I have an 86 Pentabuzz... That the original owner has refretted, so it is also possible that an owner along the way had frets inlaid. I'm owner 2, original was my bass/orchestra teacher from high school, RIP Jim. (Well, and Mike Pedulla). They are beyond special - and it is always a treat to hear them singing. Its my favorite bass in ALL THE WORLD. Gonna get one one day. The only flaw is it isn't cut away at the top of the neck and you can't reach the top of the neck.
