As a kid of the 80s/90s there’s just something really cool and nostalgic about seeing a vintage rc car with antennas/flags whizzing along, thank you for another awesome restoration and video !

Awesome job, brother! I was 3 years old when the Frog was released 😆 I just got into cars, but I've been flying rc airplanes, jets, and helicopters since the 89! I restore old planes like you do cars, which I think is awesome. I have 3 cars, and they all have big 3s lipos, 6500kv motor, and 100 amp esc! I like to overpower everything, lol thank you for the video 😉

Hi Luke! What a pleasure to see your great resto work! Remembers me when I did mine couple of years ago on some great vintage Tamiya's :-) And true, the bumper was smaller size (same as on the Audi Quattro & Opel Ascona, G'hopper, Hornet, Brat...). I've some broken ones left though.... - Great run on the beach ! ...but on asphalt, it always "hurts" a bit to go on it with the spike tires....:-) best regards, Daniel ( & thanks for your great comment on my Frog vid :-) )

Thanks nice video I got a question though, how fast stock these things were back in ‘83?
@LukesVintageRC2 жыл бұрын
Hi, so this one is of 83 era and what you see is the speed with stock 540 mabuchi motor. Speed calculation is 15-18 mph. Stay tuned for more great videos. Please like and subscribe. Thanks

Boy, this brings back memories. The second RC car I ever owned was a Frog, the first being a Tamiya Rough Rider. I do not know what happened to my Frog, for all I know, it may still be packed away in one of the boxes in my storeroom. I had more fun with this one than I had with the Rough Rider because it was so much lighter and quite a bit more rugged.

Random question? Best way to strip paint off a old 80’s rc clear body? Any ideas? Tried a spot with nail polish remover,didn’t go that great. Also don’t want to melt plastic or haze it. Thank you!
@LukesVintageRC4 жыл бұрын
SpeedSyko I use many, graffiti remover spray, Tamiya paint remover, brake fluid, easy off, simple green. Nitro fuel 20. Just depends really on the body. Some paint is harder to remove. There’s not one that does all jobs. Thank you
@SpeedSyko4 жыл бұрын
Luke’s Vintage Rc Car Restoration I started working with it. Your right. On the Marui hunter, they used 4 different paints for each color. Nail polish remover worked on the black lighter paint. I found so far soaking it in goo be gone for about 20 min starts to make one of the paints bubble. I’ll keep working on it, thanks again!

My friend Tamiya legends has a great episode about paint remover. Check it out 👍
@SpeedSyko4 жыл бұрын
I found a real good trick experimenting and it doesn’t haze the body. Keep the paint wet with contractor grad goo be gone about 1 hour. Comes right off. With rag soaked in the product.

If you are looking for a bumpers for the frog you can go to a local thrift store get a old vintage style 1/10 rc buggy an use the parts like the bumper tires shocks body chassis that’s what ive done to my frog and grasshopper I’ve gotten them off of eBay but in horrible condition an the part ware hard to find so I resorted to what I had witch was store brand rc cars that I took a part to make the frog an grasshopper little better
@LukesVintageRC3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there’s no thrift stores around me to see but I will say you have pretty good advice as my Echo Wild Panther has interchangeable parts with my grasshopper I’ve done a video on both check it out. Thanks for sharing. ✌️

hearsay henderson I’m flattered you would want me to do your truck. I’m sure you could do an amazing job yourself. So I actually did a nearly identical truck called radio shack rock runner/crusher turned Tamiya bruiser clone. Check it out for tips. Thanks enjoy 😉
