My 9 year old daughter has mild Covid-19 and we are damn scared of catching it... She keeps coughing all the time... We have to wait it out and give her Tylenol to reduce the aches and fever... Also make sure it doesn't get worse... Your videos are a great escape from this terrible virus :(

I guess im lucky to be living down in West Australia and even luckier to have owned the bike im rebuilding, an 83 RD CR 480 Honka, for the last 31 years. She was still running sweet when i pulled her apart nine years ago and put all the little bit n pieces in a big tool box in m shed. She still looked ok too, with just the ussual chips n scratches. Id bought new front and rear mudguards and sideplates from Honda for it not long after i bought it at a bargain price of $500. I had owned the previous RC model 480 which was immaculate when i bought that for $1000 and absolutely loved it. Loved everything about it , the low end stump pulling power, the handling, the ride and just the overall look of it. Honda have always gone the extra mile for attention to detail. I even loved the four speed box it had and prefered that over the five they put in the RDs model. With that much low down choof it didnt need anymore and back then i only weighed 80kg . So far ive sandblasted the main frame and sprayed it with Chevy orange heat resistant paint which is a lot more durable than normal. Cost $16 for the paint. Sanblasting i did myself. Striped all paint off the motor and painted again with flat black high temp paint. Cost $15 for the paint and $10 for the sandpaper. Barrel and head i sand blasted and polished the fins. Cost $0, The plastics i have polished using left over car polish and they look new again. Couple of little scratches took a bit of samding then polishing then buffing with a buffing machine i had already made. All the aluminium parts on the whole bike, swing arm and linkages, kick starter, gear and brake and clutch levers all copped a fine wet n dry sanding then buffing and they look better than new. No more little casting dimples. Took a long time but worth it. The fuel tank took the longest time. Hand sanding and a little bit of scraping here n there then lot of buffing to get ALL the colour back. It now has a very deep lustre with it and no fading areas at all. Cost $ time. Sanding paper wet n dry amd again left over polish. Tossing up whether or not to give a rebore and new piston n rings or just new rings. Mains and big n little ends are tight still. Gotta get a new DG pipe for it, they cost around $400. Gotta polish the rims but might just give em a coat of black temp paint. Still gotta sand and polish the fork legs. 20 years ago i had to spend alot of $$$ on the gearbox with new gears. Had to split the cases three times before they could work out what was up with it. All up it should be under a grand and she will look better than new. The tyres are still new from years ago. Still gotta buy a sticker kit and maybe another seat cover. Cant wait to get her going again. Not enough hours at night to get it all done.

Sounds like an awesome machine. When i do my CR500 next year it will be the same issue for me when it comes to parts as they did not import 89's into Canada that year. Hopefully everything is back to normal by then.

i hope all this doesn't stop you from doing what you're doing because you do a great job, it gets hard to justify the cost of parts when you have to pay just as much or more for the shipping. still you do an awesome job of bringing these beauties back from the dead when so many others would just strip them for parts to get maximum dollars.. stay safe and good luck with it all i hope things work out in the end.

As long as the sale of the bike and revenue from KZbin covers the cost of the builds, i will continue.

Most guys would have thrown in the towel and just given up. I have the highest respect for your passion and drive. Please read the book on Soichiro Honda to see all the road blocks he had trying to start and maintain Honda as a company. The man overcame a lot of atrocities with world wars earthquakes and his own government. One of the best books I have ever read! I just hope things don't get worse as I'm sure certain companies and institutions will capitalize on these bad times taking advantage of the common man.

His story is amazing and I think he pioneered the development of poured concrete walls due to the lack of building materials after the war. To go from designing piston rings to F-1 cars is pretty amazing in my book! I guarantee you will be entertained and educated!

feeling your pain my last 2 builds have been scuppered by import charges with stuff from US the postage costs are astronomic and once they get to UK there is another 20% to go on including the cost of postal. leaves a real bad taste in the mouth when it comes to selling the bike. had to put my next build on ice because of it, and there are so many doing these bikes now that the cost of the bike has gone up to silly prices now. 125s are out of reach

cj64crosser sold a gas tank through ebay shipping program last year, they took it away and crushed it as it breached their rules . ebay enlisted me in their shipping program against my will. thought i’d give it a try as i was in it already took a month to get my money back and customer was not happy

This was a very interesting video. The postage duty charges are ridiculous! I live in the US and postage charges have not changed. They are a little slower but the price is the same. I do not understand why they feel a need to charge more. The cost is the cost. I can see prioritizing important deliveries but charging more is crazy!
@TNTMOTO
@TNTMOTO 4 жыл бұрын
They may not be charging more as i never get items delivered from Sumas to Abbotsford. Just saying that when i do get items shipped into Canada it costs way more. Shipping in the USA is usually free or low cost when i buy items and have them shipped to Sumas.

The bikes you restore are like brand new in the beginning compared to the shit available here in thailand. Generally it only comes up for sale after its fucked to a stump and wont go any more and the purchase price is usually restored retail usa! Then theres the bodges to keep them running and the 200% import duty on parts. Ive got a 92 CR250 with full 96 RM bodykit and the original crank piston n rod...but the bearings have been replaced many times. Im now trapped here with 90kgs of spares waiting for me in the uk.

I sold my motorcycle trailer yesterday to hopefully cover the rest of the costs on the project. i have contacted a few companies about shipping costs to see if they can help me out. see over the next week or so.
