Another sign of the times - barely any comment from Motson regarding the coin thrown at Gordon Strachan at 9:47. Seemed to happen a lot at Old Trafford back then - I seem to remember Trevor Steven getting hit by a coin while taking a corner for Everton (which coincidentally also resulted in a goal).

I didn't see anything hit him, maybe he was just rubbing his nose? I'm wondering why they would throw a coin at one of their own players. Idiotic thing to do if someone did do it: should be an automatic lifetime ban if caught as well as a day out in front of a local beak.

West Ham fans threw the coin at Strachan. Definitely a sign of the times. The Trevor Steven one was at the Stretford end in the 1985/86 season I think. Or the 1984/85 season, I can’t remember. 1-1 draw with Everton. That I do remember!!

Mediocre? Nonsense. Inconsistent yes, but United had a great team then, packed with exciting individual talent. In fact the most talented bunch in the league. If it wasn’t for several injuries to star players around Christmas of the 85-86 season they would have won the league.
