The idea that something that I bought NEW is now officially an antique is disconcerting. 😳It was ultra dependable and damn near maintenance free. That it also looked cool as hell was a big bonus. I used it as a "daily" for commuting 8 months out of the year. It's one thing I regret selling (a car or two and several guns are on my "regret selling" list too). Very cool bikes and not seen every day! Getting back to riding so I have been "binge watching" videos about vintage (and some modern) bikes! Cool video!

Have an '83, had since '86, bit over 31K, love it. Had a very unusual failure, water pump at about 25K. Replaced, and while at it had the bike re-jetted ... original ran very lean, was cold-blooded and balky at low RPM under any load. World of difference.

I just picked one up 1200$ mint condition. Garage stored for all it's years.

My buddy just picked up one of these, same year, I flagged him down in the school parking lot, he stopped to show me and my other buds, I was in a form of shock at the sight of it. Such a sexy bike sounded good too.

Cool guy, down to earth and just relaxed and confident. And at least finally a normal talking, without dropping f-bombs or any of that language. Cool cool bike too, never seen one in real, but they look really cool with that v-engine, bit on the tiny side, but would be a really great bike for someone just starting to ride, or any collector. 👍👍👍

Always wanted this way more than its cruiser Shadow cousin. Just never found one when I had the cash and the space in the garage at the same time. Only made these a couple years. The only bark I’ve heard is when they get real tired or abused sometimes the transmission has issues. Which isn’t much of a beef really. The engine was torquey not a cafe racer by any means but a real stone axe reliable mill . Just a clean design, a clean looking bike without a lot of gingerbread all over it. Yea I still want one, lol.

It's interesting how in one year Honda went from an air cooled single to a liquid cooled v-twin on the same bike. I grew up close enough to hear the races at Ascot.

I love my vt500c basically this bike with a low seat, it’s a little scrambler and the little vtwin isn’t hugely powerful but it’s rowdy

Looking at it makes me wanna turn it into a mild adventure bike similar to a CB500x .....Has a V twin for a bit of down low power, 6 speed OD, a bit extra suspension travel & a bit of ground clearance. Add a windscreen, hand guards, rear luggage rack, saddle bags, with a backpack you could carry quite a bit for a road trip. I have an 85 Yamaha XJ700 Maxim I'd like to sell or trade for a bike that would be better suited for a commuter/ adventure bike.

I've always wanted one of these . I've had a couple of FT500 singles but I've never even seen a V Twin version in the UK .

My dad wanted one of these SO bad he couldn’t see straight! However, he and my mother had gotten married and He couldn’t justify buying one at that time. Then my mother got pregnant with me and he put the purchase off yet again. Long story short when I was in middle school he found one local. It was 100% stock. The original owner of the Ascot had bumped into it and knocked it to the ground, and decided to sell it and my dad got it for $700!! But I one uped him! In 2013 I was living in Memphis Tn and workin at the Honda motorcycle dealership on Mount Moriah Extd and a gentleman came in with an Ascot that had the fuel tank beaten in BAD by let’s say a disgruntled Girlfriend and he couldn’t find a new tank. So he decided to sell it and I inquired how much? So how I one uped him is as follows. I got “my Ascot” for $100!!! All I had to do is come get it! It just so happens that I had 2 tanks that had been cleaned and creamed! All I had to was paint it!They are incredible motorcycles, and WAYYY ahead of it’s time! I love mine and have no intention of EVER selling it! That’s my Ascot story! Anyone else have an amazing story of how they bought or otherwise came into possession of the AMAZING 1984 Honda VT500FT Ascot!?!?

I hate Mr. Kaplan. Why you ask? Because my wife keeps watching these videos because she has the hots for him. Stop wearing the tank-top, the sewed in jeans, and shave that stubble and let me have my wife back! I however watch these vids because I love the cycles so keep up that part! (smiles)
