Great Restoration! I had the fourthrunner to this a 1979 XL500s, the only MC I ever owned that I could reliably ride any season and only needed wear items & routine maintenance , Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall never, not once had an issue. My only regret was not getting the XR500 as after 1/2 years I turn it into an Enduro.

Did the same on an 84 RFVC XR200 painted plastics but not the fuel tank paint with eventually blister Cold fuel permiating causing to lift paintwork a very nice XR500

Great restoration man well done, I grew up on one of the these back in the 80s I can tell by the engine sound that it’s engine is very healthy but the exhaust noise is not what it should be. Fifty percent of this bike is its exhaust noise or should I say music. I would try and get it done with something closer to the original sound track, but all in all a great effort nevertheless. Cherish it like gold because they are getting extremely hard to find .👍🏻👌🏻👏👏👏👏

My first bike was a 1984 XR250R at the age of 16. It needed a ring job and I ended up seising up the engine after running it too hard. I traided the bike and $1500 bucks for a 1972 and 73 Camaro. I parted out the 73' and scrapped it. I built the 72' Camaro. It was my first car. I miss that bike.

I have an 84 XR250R, since 1990. I heard the 350's had a specific heat cycle(?) problem, but don't remember exactly what it was.. whether it was a tranny or engine issue? Also, I think the factory fixed the problem. But they weren't made for too many years... just sayin'. I always wanted a 350 just for a little extra wheelie power.

can't paint plastic where I live .The cold shrinks the plastics and cracks the paint off we wet sand start at 300 grit ,and go up to 2000 grit makes it shine like new paint
