Most underrated team of all time imo, literally a bad call away from perfection.

Trust me I have no love lost on the 49ers as a Dallas fan since 1977 lol,but that team takes a backseat to no one

As a Giants fan, I'd agree with that. Was a sensational team; Their defense that year didn't get all the credit they deserved.

A skinny 3 point loss to the Steelers (who went to the AFC Title Game) is all the separated the 49ers from 19-0 It's amazing going into that Super Bowl everyone was saying "this will be the first of many for Marino" he never returned Bill Walsh really should've finished his career with 5 Lombardi's

I remember visiting training camp in Rocklin that summer. I met Ronnie Lott, Russ Francis, Dwight Hicks and saw so many others. It was a great core memory traveling from the Sunset District in SF to Rocklin. It felt like we were driving across the country. Ironically, I now live just a few miles from that old training camp in Rocklin.

13:08. Oh jeez. That owner probably didn’t expect to have to do that FIFTEEN DAMN TIMES during the regular season! 😂😂😂

Matt Cavanaugh was possibly the best backup qb Prior to Steve Young’s arrival

"Hey Joe, next year I'm buying". Always felt sorry for Dan, that he never was able to get back there. Such a great passer

They lost that Steeler game because of a bad call by the zebras.

Sometimes need a little luck to go undefeated; in '72, Dolphins got a break in a game at Minn. early in the year, on a questionable late hit penalty that lead to a score. It a shame a bad call could cost a team that.

4 out of the 49ers 5 super bowl wins had regular season wins vs the Detroit Lions (81,84,88, and 94. Go 49ers!

It's ironic that Russ Francis died doing the thing he loved which was flying. RIP my friend.

That team was on a mission given what happened the year before in DC in that NFCCG v Washington and how they lost

I remember when they use to call Mr Francis All World Tight End.

1984 49ers were unreal. One loss was very questionable. Montana was magic.

This team was the best of all of them would have gone undefeated if it wasn’t for a back judge’s hilariously ridiculous bad call

Think about the complete domination they had this season and it ridiculous they aren’t #1 all time. They didn’t lose the SB and didn’t need a massive trade to make ppl think they were dominant. Beat offense AND defense.

@15:19 And that's why you should never listen to the "draft experts". Montana (3rd round), Brady (6th round), Purdy (last pick in the draft). Being a great athlete and being a great football player are too entirely different things.

Probably the best 49er team of all time.

When anyone says the no San Francisco team has won a championship at home, it's BS. For all practical purposes, Stanford Stadium was the home field for the 49ers for that SB game, and it was in the Bay Area, just some 30 miles south of Candlestick Park. It's not unlike the 1975 Warriors having played two of the 1975 NBA Finals games at the Cow Palace instead of the Oakland Arena. That alone gave the NBA Championship of that year to San Francisco, not Oakland. No, it would be nice if the Giants could win a final WS game at home!
