I have this exact rider, it's a true work horse. Mine got wider drive pullies and put 2 bar stock under the hitch and pull campers around. I think my engine is wore out to. Though mine has been rolled so I got the 90s body style hood

1984 was the last year for that style plus the 1985 to 1990 models are my favourite style

That's right. I prefer the '80 to '84, but the obvious downside is that it's a fiberglass hood.

Awesome find man. Hope that you are able to fix the problems with the tractor.

Cool tractor! I personally prefer the late 80's body style over this one, largely because the headlights remind me of the thick black rimmed square glasses that everyone used to wear in the 80's. Great video man!

Who made the the mower ayp

I think the sound is partially a result of a naturally-balanced design. The engine doesn't "fight itself" like a V-Twin does. The difference is profound.

my twin is an 85 briggs opposed, 16hp. my yard king originally had a v- twin. a previous owner threw a rod. when I found my twin, they wanted $60 for it, I traded a 1988 wheelhorse 108-5 rear engine rider for it. My rider was worth more than $60, but I really wanted that engine. I don't regret the deal at all.

that engine sounds nice. I really like twin cylinder engines.

Do you know where to buy a PTO for that
@suchfunstuff2 жыл бұрын
It has a manual PTO. No electric clutch.

What are you going to do ? Convert to vertical and if you do let me know how to do it to mine . My engine has hole in piston top going to tear it open . I really want this mower but it's junk no motor

This tractor stays the way it is. I have another spare 18 hp horizontal shaft Briggs on the shelf.

dose it have a hi-low range rear end ?

81 to 85 they used that body style not to 84.
@suchfunstuff9 жыл бұрын
SSG HICK It's possible, but I have seen them with 1985 serial numbers and the later (cube style) steel hood.
@COWGIRLMOTORSPORTS9 жыл бұрын
In 1986 they went to (cube style) steel hood.

SSG HICK It's kinda like the Suburban debate, whether or not there were 1980-year models. Sure there were cutoff years for style changes, but there were machines in the pipeline that weren't sold until the following year, late production machines, etc. Same goes for parts that have to be used up, before the factory gets to making the successor model. In that particular case, the Roper-branded machines officially offered the Suburban frame through 1980.
@COWGIRLMOTORSPORTS9 жыл бұрын
Roper built Suburban's to 1980 and in 81 they went to the that frame and body style thats in this VID.
@suchfunstuff9 жыл бұрын
Ah, that makes sense. Sears always seemed to get the "new" style body, ahead of Roper, Poulan, Yard Pro, etc. Kinda like how Ford always put the new tech. in the Lincoln cars, before the Fords and Mercurys.

searspartsdirect(dot)com is pretty good for looking up the part numbers. You need to have your model number to search.
