So we don't see the same speed & creativity now...? Sure we do.

Look at final 4 2024...all play same...no talent separates them. I'd move to make last 10 minutes of every game 4 on 4

This was my first NHL game! My uncle drove me to Northlands and I stood in line for a ticket. A 16-year-old could afford a ticket with what he had in his pocket - $19!

This Edmonton Oilers 1983-84 Stanley Cup winning team, is the most explosive hockey team in history. '87 was their most talented team.
@michaelgriffiths806810 күн бұрын
I would say the 85 team was the best. Gretzky had 47 points in only 18 playoff games. + 18. Both are playoff records. Coffey also and Kurri had 18 or 19 goals or something absurd as well.

If the Flames had taken this game I believe they would’ve won the Stanley Cup in the 1983-84 season. The Minnesota North Stars didn’t really pose much of a challenge in the Campbell Conference final. The Islanders trying for their “Five Peat” would run out of gas falling to the Flames in six or seven games in Stanley Cup final. Just sayin….

After the term "Three-Peat", it kind of loses its luster in every succeeding number..meaning it's pretty much non-existent after the 3rd..but as you said, the reign of the Isles had to end sometime and they were ripe for the picking in '84. But not before having one of the most sustained runs of excellence in American professional sports history..

Messier; the absolute best at running guys when they were vulnerable and king of cheap shot elbows.

Messier was a powerful skater who combined speed, strength, a wicked wrist shot, a mean streak, and unparalleled leadership. If I were a GM he would be on my team in a heartbeat.

@@gooddognigel9992 All of that may be true, but the guy was still prone to scumbag-type hits. That hit at the 25:00 mark of this video is a prime example. He hit Eaves from behind and drilled him head first into the boards. Awful.

Mess was physical, no doubt, but if you want to nominate a true cheap shot artist, I give you Gary Suter.

I was at that game. I 'll never forget watching all the loser Flames fans leave the arena. It was such a pleasant sight.

if flames only could of held on the islanders would of won 5 cups in a row
@jpwjr11993 жыл бұрын
That's probably true, but that was never going to happen. First, the refs (and refs aided the Islanders plenty for 5 years until that 84' final) gave this game to Edmonton in the first 30-32 minutes because Calgary really should have been ahead by 3 to 4 goals with all the dirty shit Messier, Coffey and a couple of others got away with in the first half of that game. But the final 25 minutes truly belonged to Edmonton, it really wasn't close after the 4-4 goal by Anderson. Glenn Anderson was just a fucking great hockey player.

As an Islanders fan, I'm kinda pissed that Calgary lost this game.
