I'm so glad you post this video, because I was in the 5th grade and I remember following the band and I seen myself on the sidewalk. And I don't have any pics of myself when I was a kid and I had to pull over and watch it over and over again. Went through a lot as a kid and it bought back so many memories and Im still here when I wanted to die back then. Thanks for this video.

Man, I made it to mardi gras this year 23' and when I saw the Aug...I was happy to see them have their numbers back. Last time I seen them they were pretty small compared to what I was used to seeing. I graduated 88' (not from the Aug) so I remember these 'good years'. I wish they could get back some of their discipline, I mean, at least get that marching and rocking together again. That was their signature look coming down the street. When I seen them recently lawd...just wasn't the same. The potential is there tho. Someone should show them these older vids so they can strive to be better. This was some good memories tho...I remember being there that day.

I agree I followed St Aug through the mid 80’s and all the 90’s a kid. It’s absolutely devastating not seeing them not disciplined and having their signature sound and drill timing. They look like a regular high school band now. Even their uniforms are not as detailed as they use be. I’m not sure why they aren’t paying attention to these old videos to see where they once were. Hampton was no ordinary band director and it shows in the their 2 decade decline.

Good ole Edwin Hampton and Carl Blouin. I was a senior at SA that year and there was a ton of excitement over the World's Fair. And Michael Jackson.

A lot of the men in my family went to St. Aug and a few played in the band including my cousins Armand and Stephen Manuel, Adolph Williams [RIP] and his son Austin.
