1985 Chevy Camaro Z28 L69 5.0 V8 1/24 Scale Model Kit Build How To Assemble Paint Decal
Chevrolet introduced the 1967 Camaro to challenge Ford’s incredibly popular Mustang. The original Z/28 debuted that same year as the street version of the race-prepared Camaros that competed in the SCCA’s Trans-Am race series. Camaro Z/28s went on to win the Trans-Am manufacturer’s championship in 1968 and ’69, and this on-track success helped cement the Z/28’s performance reputation. The third- generation Camaro debuted for 1982 with racy styling and a new hatchback body style. Chevy updated the Z28’s exterior appearance for 1985, and highlights included a new front fascia, a revised hood with simulated louvers, and fresh taillights. Your Revell kit of the ’85 Z28 includes these details along with the “L69” 5.0-liter High Output V-8 engine backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1/24-scale model also features the flashy L/S Conteur interior with decals that allow it to be painted in any of the three colors offered by the factory. In addition, the all-new decal sheet provides the Z28’s new-for-1985 exterior graphics in five different color schemes
Features
Complete Z28 body features including spoiler and hood detail
5.0 liter V-8 engine with cold air supply plus full interior and suspension detail
Factory stock stripe package including 5 color schemes
L/S Conteur seat package
The Chevrolet Camaro is a mid-size[1][2] American automobile manufactured by Chevrolet, classified as a pony car.[3][4][5][6] It first went on sale on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year and was designed to compete with the Ford Mustang. The Camaro shared its platform and major components with the Firebird, produced by General Motors' Pontiac division that was also introduced for 1967.
Four distinct generations of the Camaro were developed before production ended in 2002. The nameplate was revived on a concept car that evolved into the fifth-generation Camaro; production started on March 16, 2009.
The third-generation Camaro was produced from 1981 (for the 1982 model year) until 1992. These were the first Camaros to offer modern fuel injection, Turbo-Hydramatic 700R4 four-speed automatic transmissions, five-speed manual transmissions, 14,15- or 16-inch wheels, a standard OHV 4-cylinder engine,[14] and hatchback bodies. The cars were nearly 500 pounds (227 kg) lighter than the second generation model.
The IROC-Z was introduced in 1985 and continued through 1990. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Regulations required a CHMSL (Center High Mounted Stop Lamp) starting with the 1986 model year. For 1986, the new brake light was located on the exterior of the upper center area of the back hatch glass. Additionally, the 2.5 L Iron Duke pushrod 4-cylinder engine was dropped, and all base models now came with the 2.8 L V6 (OHV). For 1987 and later, the CHMSL was either mounted inside the upper hatch glass or integrated into a rear spoiler (if equipped). In 1985, the 305 cu in (5.0 L) small block V8 was available with indirect injection called "tuned port injection" (TPI). In 1987 the L98 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 engine became a regular option on the IROC-Z, paired with an automatic transmission only. The convertible body style returned in 1987 (absent since 1969) and all came with a special "20th Anniversary Commemorative Edition" leather map pocket. 1992 offered a "25th Anniversary Heritage Package" that included stripes and a unique spoiler plaque. Beginning in 1988, the 1LE performance package was introduced, optional on street models, and for showroom stock racing in the U.S. and Canada. The B4C, or "police" package, was made available beginning in 1991. This created a Z28 in more subtle RS styling.

I once had a summer job helping a Magician - just setting up props, turning on lights and smoke adding sound effects - never on stage. Problem is, I no longer am impressed by magicians as I now know what is happening in the background. But watching you build these kits, exposing all your tricks on screen and I'm STILL amazed at the transformation from box of pieces to a realistic model by end of video. Thanks for returning the magic.

This is at least the fourth revision of this kit. The first one came out in 1987 and I ordered six to build a bunch of different color combinations. Fast forward to the last revision (before this one) was 2008. With all the releases the goal was to build every color combination offered in 1985-'86 and some 1987 Z28's. All total I have built about 25 of them! Now Revell has come out with different color striping options! The previous releases only came with the gold striping (code 53A). I have pre ordered 5 kits from my local hobby shop to finish my fleet. I love the interior decals for the L/S conteur seat option, codes 19D for the black, code 62D for the tan, and 72D for the red. The air cleaner decal is a nice touch too. The red striping appears to be the correct code 77A, and I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these new kits and build my favorite color combination. A black '85 Z28 with the red L/S conteur and the red striping! Sorry for the long response but my OCD is off the chart with these third gen Camaros. Great video!

Probably my favorite generation of Camaro since I'm an '80s kid - glad to see this kit available, might need to pick up one because like the Revel Firebird I built recently, it's relatively simple to put together but comes out looking great and not toy-like in the end.

Looks like a former snap-fit kit. Revell like to repackage those and not market it as such. The Peterbilt, Kenworth and the GMC Tow Truck are snap kits but not marked as such. Not a complaint, as each are amazing kits. I’m definitely adding this one to the collection. Beautiful build Chris.

Note: 3rd gen '82-'92 Camaro's and Firebird's the under hood fender wells, firewall, and radiator support structure, were usually body color, but like you always say and I agree with, "build your models your way"...just for future reference, no harm intended. I look forward to your build videos, and this one was no exception. I'll be added this kit to my collection, and eventhough the parts count is very low, the kit looks accurate...and that's what ultimately important to me. Nice job!!

You forgot the Firebirds/Trans AM. lol Nice build. A kit doesn't need to have a high number of parts to be nice. I have it from a previous release. From what I've heard, unless they have fixed the mistake, the belts and pulley are inversed from the real car. I think it just mean that the alternator is on the wrong side of the body. But heh. That's fine, most people won't know and a modeler can always fix that if it bothers them.

At first I was disappointed with this kit because of the low parts count; however, you have shown it builds into a very nice model. Happy New Year Chris, hope the holidays have been good to you. This is a nice build, I have the 1:24 Simon & Simon Camaro Snap kit model already built I think this kit is a re-issue of that kit just different box art maybe the plate decals are different, hood vents are a different style too but I had fun building that kit it, I did the body in red like in the TV show with all black interior came out real nice. but anyway thanks for posting and sharing bud.
