My Broncos, Dick Enberg and Merlin Olson. Awesome Sunday afternoon memories. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Dave. And on this day in 2024 the Broncos were back in these classic throwbacks versus the Raiders for a very 70's looking sunny day in Denver. 😍

Thanks Dave for another walk down memory lane. Enberg and Olson are like homemade chicken soup on a cold day. Miss them big time.

The disappointment of Denver not reaching the 1984 AFC Championship game vs Miami haunts me to this day. The '85 Broncos were a very good team that lost 5 games, 2 in OT vs the Raiders, and by 4 points to the Rams and the Dolphins. The Charger loss was the only game they were not competitive in. Thanks for the upload, Dave!

This game was the perfect example of how bad the scheduling format was in the NFL for decades. These two teams only met here in 1985 and not again until 1998 when Marino and Elway were at the enc of their careers.

The NFL does most things wrong, but the balanced schedule when they expanded to 32 teams in 2002 was something they got 100% right.

The four five team divisions and two four team divisions of the time affected the schedules. Especially the last place team of each of the five team divisions from the previous season in each conference playing each other twice the following season. 1985- Bills Chargers played each other twice and the Vikings Eagles played twice. I believe this quirk lasted into the early/mid 90s.

Robert_J528 and then TravisBartels provided some GREAT insider type information here!! Even with teams locked into playing certain opponents (division opponents twice, particular AFC vs. NFC divisional matchups, and last place teams in 5-team divisions playing twice, I wasn't aware of that one!!) the NFL still should've found a way for Marino and Elway -- arguably the NFL's best 2 QB's in the 1980's -- to play every season or every other season. If you look at the NFC in the 1980's, they seemed to have Chicago-Washington, Chicago-San Francisco, Washington-San Francisco, San Francisco-NY Giants, Chicago-NY Giants matchups every season because they were the best teams. Even now, we always have Mahomes-Josh Allen, Mahomes-Lamar Jackson, Mahomes-Burrow, Lamar Jackson-Josh Allen, Eagles-49ers, Cowboys-49ers matchups every season in order to build up playoff and personal rivalries.

This was the first meeting of these two teams since 1975 and then wouldn't play again until 1998. Crazy.

Rocky Mountain weather certainly has its variables. This 1985 game was played on September 29th with snow. The October 6, 2024, game of the Denver Broncos at home versus the LV Raiders had 75 degree weather.

Love the 1985 NBC game open with "Send them Victious" Although the graphics for that open would be used for several more years, this was the only year for that particular piece of music.

It’s interesting that it looks like a very cold day with some snow in the stadium and it’s only week four? It looks more like a late season game. This game was on September 29 1985, which means summer wasn’t that long ago but looks like a November or December game.

Yep, that's not unusual here in Denver. Fall is a tug-of-war between summer and winter. We can get snow and cold from mid-September on. Or it can be hot, in the 90's. Furnace on one day, air conditioning the next. That seems to have moderated in recent years, at least compared to the 80's. I had a 10 mile commute into downtown then, it was no fun in the snow so I remember it pretty clearly.

What if the Raiders drafted Marino instead of Don Mosebar (AL DAVIS was more about suing the NFL/Pete Rozell to focus on the 83 Draft) ELWAY VS MARINO twice a year...Of course if the Raiders/Colts deal went through[Insert "CONSPIRACY THEORY"] Elway would've played the Broncos twice a year...AND ZERO SB's FOR THE ORANGE & BLUE, RAIDERS WOULD'VE BEEN UNSTOPPABLE!!
