Such a treat to revisit the 'good old days'. It was a radical change in the nature of rallying when the 4WD cars made their appearance. When I started watching/competing RWD Escorts were the cars to have ...and what fun they were! Spectacular inside and out and far less boring than the later incarnations. Great stuff VHS, keep up the good work,

Superb. Just superb!! Markuu on "maximum attack" 👍👍

Yep. I've always associated the phrase with Markku. I first heard it from him, many years ago, and I don't care if anybody used it before he did. In my mind Markku Alen OWNS "Maximum attack!" :-)

Was at 2 of the stages on that programme! Clipstone and Wykeham. Both greatly missed venues, Wykeham especially as whichever way they ran it you could see the cars for ages. Lot warmer watching this way than out in the woods though!

I'd say so!! It always looked freezing and wet from the couch anyway!! 👍😊

The beautiful raspy bark out of the 6R4 is epic. OK, I get it, not the world's coolest car, but when did you last hear an engine note like that? 🤔

This was way before my time, thanks for allowing me to experience it.

Bad enough having to have the eyes adjust to the dark and battling conditions till they got blasted with flash photography. Thank you for posting the top notch content

Hi, Jay! When I used to spectate at night, the etiquette was that you ONLY took a flash picture when the car had actually gone past you. There was a lot of 'vigilante policing' of such behaviour by fellow spectators because we all knew that if enough complaints came in from the drivers, the marshals would cancel the stage. Idiots got thumped and had all of the film in their cameras accidentally exposed. Allegedly. ;-) Sadly, there were still places where the (sometimes drunk) morons outnumbered the responsible fans. The only thing to do then was trust the marshals and either move on to the next viewing point, or climb up a bank to safety before a car came off the road. In our defence, I found most British fans to be generally pretty responsible. The marshals were, without exception, brilliant. A mate of mine once went to Greece to watch the Acropolis, and he said that there were fans actually standing on the roads, trying to slap the cars as they went past. It was like the Pamplona bull-run in Spain. Mucho macho and totally bloody stupid.

@@EleanorPeterson Thank you for sharing and it always good to hear from the support staff in rallies who are in many ways unsung heroes. Unfortunately there are always going to be idiots who ruin it for everyone else.

How many times did I look at those Ceefax pages at the end? Nostalgia seems to be out of fashion. Thanks

Watching this in Dec 2023, in the end credits, I wonder how many people don't know what Ceefax means...?😂

Ohh, I know. As a 60 year old Dutch I consulted ceefax very often........
