Upland 1985. To have been in that crowd.... Lester Kasai, Steve Steadham, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero and Tony Hawk.

Hosoi and Kasai were always two of my favorites. Everyone was into Hawk and Cab, Lance, McGill, etc., but I think I liked the big air

@@MarioCavett Read that sentence again. There were several names accompanying Hawk which was implying the Bones Brigade, Powell Peralta skates. I think Hosoi was with Santa Cruz at the time and not nearly as popular outside of hardcore skaters. Tony Hawk broke out in like 84 after a couple years doing the few skate comps running then, changing the vertical style. From 85 on he was one of the top skaters on the scene, along with Cab, Guerrero, McGill, Mullen, etc. For kids getting into skating Hawk was one of the best known. For guys who were deep in it and competing there were others like Gator, Natas, Gonz, Alba, etc. But Hawk kinda saved skating.

Cab could blast some huge airs but yeah, Hosoi and Kasai both were just rockets! Loved both of those guys style and insane huge airs.

Wish I still had my Steadham deck. Traded it to a friend for a Tony Alva deck after only having the Steadham a couple of weeks. Still have the Alva but it's a lot more common to see an old Alva deck nowadays than Steve's deck.

So funny to hear the word “bio” used all the time to describe radical skating. I’m glad that stayed in the 80’s.
