RIP MAMA EDITH MAWIA MALOMBE DOCUMENTARY

Life is a journey, and as we journey in this life, we leave footsteps in the hearts of those we transform.
As we celebrate a life well lived of Mama Edith Mawia Malombe, Founder CEO of Kyeni Foundation and loving wife of Hon. Dr. Julius Makau Malombe, the pioneer Governor of Kitui County, her life shines in the hearts of many. As a mother, mentor and a glimpse of hope to the poor and destitute though her generous food donations, champion of Beyond Zero maternal health, and libraries and Shoes to all pupils in Kitui County, Mama Edith’s demise is painful.
Kyeni means light, and Mama Edith sparked the light.
In her desire to see lives transformed, Mama Edith championed the Beyond Zero maternal health campaign which saw Kitui receive three level 4 hospital ambulances. Kenya’s first lady Mama Margaret Kenyatta handed over the ambulances which since then have helped safe lives of mother and child at birth.
Through Kyeni foundation, Mama Edith established more than 180 libraries in each of Kitui’s public school to boost the reading culture among learners. She soon became popular in the mouths of many Kitui residence with her “Kisomo no Kyo, na vaa Kitui ki kikwaila” statement. 132 primary schools and 48 secondary schools in the vast Kitui County are now endowed with a library courtesy of Mama Edith’s initiative!
Mama Edith donated shoes to all primary schools in Kitui County and Kyeni foundation received enormous appreciation from both the teachers, parents and pupils, some of whom had never worn a shoe in their entire life!
To Governor Malombe, children, and family, may the Lord give you console now and forever.
To us the people of Kitui County, we have lost a champion, a light that does not only shine, but lights others, Mama Kyeni!
