1986-1987 Civic Si to DOHC D16a1/ZC Swap

We have been hunting down this chassis for some time. We eventually want to make a cable to hydro conversion for this body, but we got to start somewhere first. We ran across a full swap out of an 1989 Acura Integra that can be seen right here on our channel ( www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aC9s...​ ) shortly after picking up the Civic. I get teary eyed seeing this. I think most likely just nostalgia of my 3 door 1.3L 4spd ‘85 Civic. One of the ones that just went away, replaced, and now missed. Awesome build!

I did this swap 18 years ago.. so much fun. Parts weren't easy to source even back then. I put in 1986 ITR browntop into 1987 CRX Si. Still was a monster after the swap! Used Integra ecu, wiring, front hub/brakes, axle, shift linkage, trans mount... You don't even need CAI. You can easily modify the airbox to take air from the right inner fender. Sounds awesome! Great job brother, I did this swap many years ago on my CRX using the Integra harness and ECU, but I used the earlier Integra engine with the external coil, had to move a few pins around and extend a few wires but definitely wasn't a bad swap to do. Gonna subscribe to the channel, I love the attention to detail, that's good stuff man.

I just bought a car that the guy was doing the same in a 90 EF hatch and he wired the JDM harness up and ECU but I'm not sure what all I need to repin and to what any help.would be appreciated greatly and hell I'd even pay ya. It turns over but no spark

Very cool. Nicely done, too bad about the left side engine bracket but you made it work. Regarding the air box, the tube and airbox lid from the Integra fit right onto the lower portion of the air box. I've owned two Civic Si's that previous owners had done this swap on, also did this same swap on one of my CRX's (Honda Challenge H2 road race car) and just recently did the complete 1986 Integra swap into a 1987 Civic DX body.

i use D16A13 at my SH4 sedan. So good for a while and i used a standard. Top Speed : 215- 220 kmh Not used timing belt tensioner and i must reduse and use a little bit shot timingbelt Not use power stering but i need an aircond. A little engineering to make engine mounting.

I swapped a 87 rs d16a1 into my 88 integra ls 5speed, what zc dizzy do I need, because It runs fine on the 88 d16a1 dizzy but has a check engine light and code 9

Hey bro.. im am so frustrated.. I own a 95 accord and it was auto.. it had a 4500 rpm rev limit.. I swapped it to manual with ecu and gage cluster.. didn't fix it.. bought a f23a motor put it in did not fix it.. replaced the dizzy, fuel filter, oil pressure switch, vtec solenoid and still did not fix it.. the only thing I haven't replaced is the engine harness and fuel pump.. you think I might of gotten a bad gauge cluster since it seems like a chassis problem not engine problem?? Im at blood sweat and tears with this car.. and put money into it quit a bit.. if you can try to point me in the right direction it be awesome

f23 had some sensors on crank that normally would be in dizzy on a lot of older hondas, like h22, and then some dizzys had external coil. Make sure you have spark.

Yes. We have before but you’ll have to make your own engine mounts.

You can use a header for a single cam D series. You'll need to modify the ports slightly and make some other "adjustments" to account for the twin cam head. I used an eBay header and tapered the flanges.
