On 18 August 1986, Bob Dylan attended a press conference at London's National Film Theatre to promote "Hearts of Fire", his newest silver screen venture. Directed by Richard Marquand, the film was due to begin shooting around the UK later that month. After briefly posing for the cameras with co-stars Rupert Everett and Fiona Flanagan, Dylan maintained a typically low-key presence during the press conference, his brief answers drawing chuckles from the journalists in the room.
Hearts of Fire performed poorly in the UK and was pulled from cinemas after only two weeks. It was later given a limited release in US theatres, while Dylan himself reportedly later distanced himself from the film entirely.
