I was sat in the grandstand at Woodcote for this, I was gutted that Longman was in the Escort as I use to love him in the no.77 Metro

Because in group a form the btcc ran with four classes. Rather than having individual class titles each class competed for the overall title, with the same amount of points for first in each class, 2nd in each class, 3rd in each class etc. Therefore Chris Hodgetts was able to dominate his class and win pretty much every race and win the championship, despite finishing far behind the more powerful cars in the other classes.

In the UK Mitsubishi cars were sold under the Colt brand name until the mid/late '80s, so for the UK it was the Colt Starion, and that one was as it's a narrow wheel arch car so pre-name change to Mitsubishi...

Because they're on a giant GP track (silverstone) with probably 140BHP less than the leaders
