1986 Ford F-350 "Boaterhome" Project Update - BAMBU LAB X1 Carbon 3D Printer

It took you HOW LONG to get a printer? More on that in a moment - but many of you have asked "what's up with the boaterhome project" - 1/2 Van 1/2 Boat. Well, here's your update. Yup, I'm late to the party on the 3D printing side of things.. but I needed and wanted to wait for a quality product that was fairly dummy-friendly for my old brain. WOW, did I ever find one.
The Boaterhome was in need of a major upgrade.. and the lexan plastic body was a great option - but it wasn't wide enough - and at this stage I should be printing bodies. Also, the "Boaterhome" was iconic, and although I am doing my own rendition of an updated model - a strong body would be ideal. A viewer of my last episode suggested I had someone print me a body - so spawned the idea of bringing in the BAMBU LAB X1-CARBON. bambulab.com/
This printer is incredible and has taken a complete newbie to printing - and now turned them into a printing machine.. figuratively and literally! I don't know how I ever got by without one of these amazing machines. I am glad they exist with intuitive software and easy to use graphic user interfaces. Touch screen is decent, and the print speed is unreal!
I have so much to learn.. as I am just at the beginning of my 3D printing journey.. but I think this is going to revolutionize how I build my Radio Control hobby vehicles in the future.

That’s so cool man! Those 3D printers are awesome. Bought one for my son for Xmas a few years ago. He loves it and has made numerous gadgets and or parts with it. AWESOME! Besides the little learning moments ( always welcome) this tool addition just opens up soo many possibilities! If you start messing with 3d design, like Blender etc I imagine things will get uber awesome and creativity will ooze out of you faster 🤘🤘🤘

Two things coming to mind. 1: I'm working on a 40 year old boat. Just got a video uploaded of it actually! Would be interesting to try to launch it off this thing, recover it. Recovery easy enough, launching...nitro boat, no reverse no clutch, it may not want to slide away unless it's on the hauler backwards for launching. 2: You have the ability to print entire RCs now. I printed a little gokart with my printer and it's a riot. Uses Mini-T electronics. Takes 3s, everything but the hardware, motor, electronics, bearings included in the STLs.

I love that your 3d printing now. The x1 carbon is amazing. That said... I upgraded to a elegoo neptune 4 pro... I had a older anycubic mega x... In a couple years or so I'll get a carbon. My machine is close in speed, and almost is a start amd walk away. But. Not quite. But I also wanted to really learn the ins and outs. It's stressful. Alot WTF.... OH... RIGHT.. K. HAHAHA. Your going to love what you can create.

Nice one, so being a computer dinasore myself looking like I could manage this, been holding off waiting for one for idiots so maybe this is the one. So being mainly 1/5th-1/6th-1/7th gas and now electric this part was a steep learning curve setting up ESC's etc my want is scale accesories, scale people and storage for the vehicles in transit and home as I have down sized living acomadation maybe too small as my workshop and storage of vehicles in my lounge, kitchen even my bedroom as the single car garage is full and hardly any room to walk around in it, also the damp is bad so going to have to plumb in a large radiator, along with sound and weather insulation along with electrics. Man I would love to have just the garage with a possible granny/grandad flat hindsight as they say. Seasons greetings to yourself and the family.

3D printing opens up a lot of possibilities, and you don't need to know how to design things yourself. Thousands of people have uploaded files you can get for free to print out all kinds of things. Should make, making the boaterhome less stressful.
