I just bought my first bike! I got the same bike that you have, an 86 zl600. I need to do a lot of work to get it up to par. I will be referencing your videos for some help for sure. 👍

Nice buy! Sorry, About a year after I made this video, I ended up selling due to no time for it focusing on work. Getting back into the project bike world now that things have settled. Thanks for watching and your continued support!

Very nice project. I had a 1986 Honda Night Hawk 450 Twin. I look forward to seeing it restored. Take Care and Keep Exploring The Outdoors.

My dad had the 900, that thing would fly. I haven't seen one of these since the 1990's

That’s awesome when I was given this opportunity I had to take it no matter the condition, as long as it runs I’ll keep it going! Gotta love an early ninja engine in a cruiser platform!

Yeah same, growing up my dad rode his 86 900. Now it's in my garage and I ride it once in awhile, great bike.

Thanks for the video. My 1986 ZL 600 has absolutely no problem whatsoever keeping up with modern sport bikes in town. You can very easily outrun your brakes on this bike.. With a pair of gutted mufflers it sounds absolutely gorgeous. It's a deeper roar than new sport bikes. it's the best sounding bike I've ever had. it also handles better than anything I've ever ridden. It can swerve either direction and return to zero almost instantly. If you're used to other cruisers that are not based on a sport bike it may be hard to rev it up like it's supposed to be because it runs just fine and pulls just fine at 3-5,000 RPM but it comes alive with a vengeance at 7000 and runs all the way up to 11 easily

Very cool - picked one up back in 2012 for 185 bucks! chick dropped it on first corner (her first bike!) and was afraid, all it needed was a head gasket and valve cover- just tore back into the carbs this week to get her running again :)

Nice! Sadly I’ve gotten rid of this bike to make room for other projects, but it was a very awesome bike especially for its era! Definitely awesome when you can find a great deal like that that and have a running/riding bike for cheap! Thanks for watching

I still find a lot of parts on EBay, that’s my best suggestion. There’s still people parting these bikes out

I remember once an old mechanic used some kind of steel/lead shot and denatured alcohol to clean out the steel tanks on our Honda 110 ATC's, might be an idea to get it all out?

I'll have to give that a shot!

How do you remove the seat

Mine had a keyed lock on the right hand (throttle side) of the bike just under the seat near the rear fender. That latch grabs the under side of the seat bracket and holds in place.
