1986 Mercedes-Benz 500SL RHD

This is a lovely car, ready for the summer and the most desirable of the late R107 SL's! She is a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 500SL, Automatic, 78k Miles, Finished in Metallic Black with Cream Leather Interior, she is in a lovely useable condition, has both Hard and Soft Tops and is ready for her next owner having had £15k spent on her 3 years ago!
Built by Mercedes since 1954 across numerous generations, the SL - standing for ‘Super Leicht’ has proven to be a hit for Mercedes-Benz, being their second longest-running model after the ubiquitous G-Class. The R107 generation - as seen here - was introduced produced between 1971 and 1989, and was largely unchanged during this time, which is testament to just how good the original design and execution was. Available with a range of engines from a 2.8-litre inline-six (280SL) up to the monstrous 5.6-litre V8 in the 560SL, the R107 was based upon the W114 model architecture, and was available in either SL Roadster or SLC coupe’ format. Interestingly, the 280, 380 and 500 SL models continued after the demise of the SLC in September 1981, with the 380 and 500 receiving a re-tune, promoting greater efficiency and gained updated axle ratios - 3.27:1 was raised to 2.47:1 for the 380 - with the 380SL eventually bowing out in September 1985, to be replaced by the 420. The 500SL was the Top of The Range Model and there were numerous aesthetic refinements to both the interior and exterior, post-facelift, from 1986-89.
First registered in 1986 and finished in the timeless and attractive colour combination of Metallic Black over a Cream Leather interior this SL has been recently recommissioned after a period in storage having covered only 78,000 miles in its 38 years of existence. In fact nearly £15,000 was spent on the car in 2019 less than a thousand miles ago so she is ready for her next proud owner. The car has an Advisory Free MOT until February 2025! The paint is beautiful and the interior has been wonderfully re-trimmed in Cream Leather and looks fantastic. There are the original books with the car but no early service history at all with the car I am afraid. We do have MOT's going back to 1995 when the car had 63k Miles on the clock. This is a rare opportunity to buy a low mileage, post facelift, 500SL, the absolute Holy Grail of R107 ownership, for a reasonable price! Please be quick, this could be £10k more expensive easily and would still look good value!
