RIP Brian Crafter (1931-1994), Charles Slade (1948-2018), Peter Thomson (1929-2018) & Jack Newton (1950-2022). But Graham 'Smokey' Dawson is very much still alive & well & very much still with us on this Earth.

I followed Greg for the last 2 rounds, all 18 holes. His ball striking was ridiculous, i've followed many other pros since including Tiger, yes Tiger and i'm not kidding Norman was in a class of his own. He was right there in 12 Majors and got 2 of them. The saddest part for me is that history wont show how great he was in terms of the "greats" of the game. Seriously Normans name should be up there with Nicklaus and Hogan and Palmer, not that winning 2 Majors is not amazing but yeah but for some bad luck and some poor course management etc, Norman would have been one the the GREATS.

Yes should have been on a par with Faldo at minimum for majors. As the old saying goes, Faldo had as many majors gifted to him as Norman had taken away.

Could not agree more. Used to follow him all the time in the mid/late 80's in Melbourne. He is still the most exciting and charismatic golfer to have ever played the game. I still remember certain shots he hit which were incredible. Only player that had 60 metres up his sleeve and twice the player Faldo was.

Good old Golf vs Tennis - golf is so much luck. The players are only evaluated on approximately 280 shots, of those 280 shots about 30 of them will be tap in putts with no chance of missing, so it is only about 230 shots, each of those 230 shots all matter the ame amount Normally the winner will only win by 1 or 2 shots. To win by 3 shots is a big win. Then on any hole the ball bounces one way or the other just due to luck can make a 2 shot swing. Every shot you hit in golf you are compeating against the whole field. In Tennis you play 7 matches to win wimbeldon. the job is only to beat one person at a time. there is literally thousands of shots, and you have to win each point by two. by the end of each tournement - everyone agrees the eventual winner is a deserving winner, because luck plays such a small part in Tennis, as the game is designed to eliminate luck. Golf is all about luck - and the best golfers must be brave enought to accept this and the outcome - the most admirable thing about Greg was he accepted his fate with dignity.

Norman should have won at least 5 or 6 Majors. Maybe more.

I'm afraid that showed Greg up a bit on the last hole with that guy with the camera. Never nice to have a click go off at the top of your backswing and would've understood his reaction more with a 1 shot lead but leading by so many he could've told him off in more of a fun way. Great golf though on a great golf course.

He was telling him off on behalf of all the players out there. While Greg had it won , he doesn't want to see jerks with cameras ruining it for other pro's who are feeling the pressure.

The biggest reason that Greg didn't win more majors is because there is no major held in Australia.

Don't feel too bad for Norman, like the worst thing that ever happened to him was he didn't win majors a few times. But he has a house on Jupiter Island and is friends with all the most influential politicians in the world. He is a blessed human being who is living the dream. Honestly the only different the winning and losing those extra few majors made, is how he will be remembered by all the wannabes
