I miss the mini vans of the mid-80s and 90s . The Caravan was nice. I liked the ones with the wood panels 😎👍🏼

Man, that thing is solid Nathan! 👀 My parents had a ton of them over the years when I was a kid. They almost always have the paint peeling on them! 😂

I've only recently began to embrace the virtues of the Chrysler minivans. I borrowed one over the Christmas and New Year's holiday I believe a 2009 model absolutely loved it.

Too bad, so sad. Pretty clean, but these were heaps of junk (although they sold well): We got the VIN, we win: 2B4 for Canadian made Dodge MPV, F for 4,000 to 5,001 # GVWR, K51 for Dodge Caravan, G for 2.6L four cylinder engine with two barrel, Mitsubishi sourced "MCA Jet", 1 is a check digit, H for the 1987 model year, R for Windsor, Ontario Canada assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Windsor plant opened in 1928 and still operates today as the main minivan plant. We got the tag, we can brag: MWA for roof rack, NDA for catalytic converter, YJA for new vehicle service, END for end of sales codes, JHB for rear wiper and washer, JKD for remote fuel filler door release, JPB for power door locks, LAM for door ajar warning lamp, CYB for bucket seats, CYE for seven passenger seating, GKC for right sliding door with vented glass, GTK for power mirrors, HAA for air conditioning, 909 for Tuesday, September 9, 1986 production scheduling, DGA for three speed automatic transmission, U for USA destined vehicle, APB for waterfall two-tone exterior paint, PA1 for Eiger Silver exterior paint, QS8 for Charcoal accent exterior paint, EEA should be for the 2.6L four cylinder, among other codes. This appears to have possibly been assembled on August 28, 1986 which was a Thursday, and possibly scheduled to ship on September 9, 1986. The 2.6L is probably why it's there. They are pieces of junk and when the 2.5L with fuel injection came out, it was a better engine.

I figured it had to be a mechanical or title problem for it to be there.

Is that red pinstripe an option? I had a similar van, V-6 grand ,optioned, didn't have that stripe. Maybe came with the running boards, which seems to help all vehicles protect rockers from salt and other damage.
@googleusergp4 ай бұрын
@@paulwoodman5131 The running boards look to be aftermarket. I'd say the stripe was part of the two-tone paint option.

The people who were taking it apart seemed to be careful with it too, they did it cleanly leaving all the wires in place, left the bolts and used a rag to stop water and soot from entering the open ports. They knew it was nice and tried to keep it that way for others!

That's the vehicle that saved Chrysler!
@googleusergp4 ай бұрын
Actually, it wasn't. The Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon which came out in 1978 actually saved them and kept them afloat until the K-car came out in 1981. After that point, mostly everything front wheel drive was a "Sperlich Special", and by then Chrysler was profitable and had repaid their government loans. Yes, these did help them greatly, but if they waited until then, Chrysler would have been out of business.
