I've got to thank this uploader for putting up all these games from the 1980's when the NBA was REALLY competitive and great unlike the current NBA!!! About this game, a couple of things I need to comment on. Everyone talks about Jordan scoring 63 against Boston in the 1986 playoffs but it looks like Jordan ABUSED Boston in the 1987 playoffs too!! Jordan's '87 playoffs against Boston gets overlooked. Jordan's stellar playoff performances against Boston in 1986 and 1987 foreshadowed the epic playoff performer he became as he punished the Cavs for the next two years in the playoffs and then went on to win 6 Finals MVP's!! Also, Charles Oakley scored 25 POINTS in this game!! That's probably a playoff career-high for Oakley. I don't recall him EVER putting up enough shots to score 25 points in a game in his career. A poster on here mentioned that this (1986-87) would have been Len Bias' rookie year and first playoffs. Based on the assumption that Bias would have been a superstar, you can imagine how dominant Boston would have been if they had a 6-8, athletic guy who could hit mid-range jumpers like Bias on this roster. Would they have started Bias or brought him off the bench? Finally, the Bulls would go on to make several FRANCHISE-ALTERING decisions a few months after this game was played when they selected SCOTT Pippen and Horace Grant in the first round of 1987 NBA Draft. The Bulls adding Pippen and Grant was pretty much the final pieces of the championship dynasty that the Bulls would eventually become beginning in 1990-91.

1987 NBA season- Jordan would average 37 ppg and yet was 0-9 vs Celtics including playoffs!

I actually find this game more fun and enjoyable to watch than the 1986 Celtics-Bulls game 2

Sure Wish You Had Celtics Games From: "80-81", "83-84" & "85-86". But I'm Still Very Happy To Get These Games Too & Thank You.

Len Bias would have been a rookie on this Celtics team. Pippen will be a rookie the following season

Breaks my heart as much right now as it did in the summer of 86. Can you imagine the battles these 2 teams would have had from 88 to 98 or so. We were robbed of Bird vs Jordan. We should have had more than 86 and 87. Give Jordan his chance at redemption as he got older and given Bird his chance at another title or 2. Now of course Bird wasn't playing beyond 92. But with Bias and Lewis. I could envision about 3 or 4 battles in the ECF between these 2 teams

one thing is for certain. Bias could’ve relieved Mchale and let him heal his foot 🦶

Compare the rosters from 78 to 79. 79 has 3 hof players plus cornbread Maxwell. McHale & Parrish join the same year bird does. How ya gonna keep from winning? Duh.

Always wonder what it would have been like for bird & magic to go to a crappy team like mj instead of play with hof players from the getgo.

very good point.

Wait a second ! Bird took a team from 29 wins to 61 wins without McHale or Parish in his first year. What are you talking about?

Oakley was trash offensively

Later in his career he had a nice 10-18 foot baseline jumper. That became his shot

Really annoying the refer to Boston as "world" champions. Just factually inaccurate. They were NBA champions that was it. There was no world tournament for clubs .
@Gregory-sm9pf24 күн бұрын
The reason why they say world champions is because the NBA has the best basketball players in the world which they do, no other country has a league with players as good as NBA players, that's why it's so diverse
@bryanburnap45372 күн бұрын
If you remember - in 85 the NBA still called it the World Championship. In 1986 they changed it to the "NBA Finals " So maybe that works better for you

Bill Walton had alot better college basketball career than Shaq O'Neal & bill Walton 🏆 won an NBA basketball 🏀 championship without a bunch of super star except Maurice Lucas
