Reference point seems a bit of a forgotten horse. His arc flop was caused by an injury. But unlike dancing brave who flopped in America in his last race, reference point is no longer talked about like a champion ..?? I always thought what a dream race this would have been, if dancing brave had raced as a 4 year old ? Steve cauthen the perfect judge of pace going on, and pat eddery trying to peg him back . I think it would be very hard to pass reference point tho over a mile and a half ??

Very few racing people, including commentators, managed to pronounce the name Triptych correctly. It is "Trip-tick" and not "Trip-teek", "Trip-teesh", etc.

Good horse, rated a bit too high though in all time ratings. Looking at timeform no way would he beat some of their horses below him. He ran basically pound for pound her beating triptych in third. Reference point was beaten fair and square in previous run by mtoto in eclipse stakes with triptych third. So very good horse but rated about 10ibs too high imo. He is relatively easy to rate.

Mtoto beat him at 1.2 in the Eclipse which was to short a distance for him and he was vulnerable to Mtoto's kick , but at 1.4 he was hars to beat , id say only Dancing Brave and Generous would have beaten him over that trip from that era
