I was 21 in 1991, and bought a gold turbo 2 w/ 20k miles. Put every paycheck into it for 3yrs straight. Intercooler. Exhaust. Chip. Turbo. Bigger Fuel Injectors....suspension...etc etc. Best car I ever owned - wish I had saved it these past 30 yrs. Thanks for taking me back. This car was waaaay ahead of its time back then. It has aluminum susp arms, aluminum spare tire, and aluminum JACK from the factory. Throw in the all mighty rotary and its a wrap. I devoured MANY cars back then. The best was a hopped up GN built for dragging. And the RX7 can corner too. xoxox

God I miss my 87 T2. Such a fun car, even though mine was pretty ratty. Even with its flaws, a rechipped ECU, larger injectors and 15psi on a ported turbo was FUN!

Tbh, she drove great off the lot, but with any 25+ year car, you're going to face problems. Some problems that I encountered with this rx7 in particular was exhaust leaks, and fuel injectors flooding... My plan is to restore this vehicle, paint and engine all together

Service was fast, the customer service rep, was amazing, she helped get my car registered in Louisiana from NC. I'm sure they have mixed reviewed, but from my experience I rate it a 7/10..

It's cushy, "premium" interior was very cheaply made and was a dreadfully noisy rattle trap even when they were new. It looked nice, but sounded awful driving over real roads with bumps and edges. You could barely hear the nice sound of the engine with all the interior rattles and squeaks. They were AWFUL. Non-turbo cars fared better, with their softer suspension. They didn't handle as well, but were quite nice cars. Very slow by today's sports car standards, though, and fairly average for the '80s. I miss mine.

Old video but I want to make one correction. They didn't use a dual stage turbo, it was a single twin scroll turbo, hence the "II" in Turbo II. Now, 30 years later, everybody is jumping onto the twin scroll turbo bandwagon.

+83FB7 Wrong. It was called the Turbo II because it was actually the second turbo rotary Mazda built. The first turbo being done with the first generation RX-7 (chassis code FB). However, that particular car was not sold in the states, and was very rare regardless. PS I had one of these (I have some videos on my channel). Mine was a disaster though I bought off some guy who "ruined" it. I was young and dumb. What a nightmare, but what a riot. Madness. Marvelous.

captainfiercebeard I have owned 4 RX-7s and a Rotary Pickup. I've never once heard, in the entire RX-7 community, that it stood for the second rotary turbo. It's always stood for the fact that they used a twin scroll turbocharger.
