A tremendous event that changed Indianapolis for the better and that kicked off 30 years ago today! Congratulations to all those that participated and all those that have benefitted from this well planned, well organized and well run event!!!

at 11:40 as Patti was singing, you can see me in the upper left hand corner come down the stairs and trip. I was working for Disney. We supplied the 50 piece All American College Orchestra. I was the head audio tech for them. We were there all week. Lots of rehearsals all week.

What a blast from the past. This was a great day for the city of Indianapolis. I have been looking for this for a few years on you tube. This is a great copy and my favorite part of the entire opening ceremony. great music.

As a disabled sports fan from the UK I seem to remember this. ESPN USA covered this in the States.Channel Four [then a reletivly new channel] here in the UK showed about 1 hour of highlights. I also seem to remember a young Karin Helmstadt winning a Bronze Medal for the Candian team.Karin is now the new Cuture Editor for the new DW TV News service. Happy Memories. This was a wonderful experience for me, as I was in charge of the Hook’s Drug Trailer we had to sell Cosmeties, OTC items and many sundry items. We almost emptied the shelves everyday. I would place an order every night from Hook’s Warehouse and they delivered early morning. I was working in the Trailer from sun up to sundown, but I loved every minute and meeting all the athletes. Many Memores and all wonderful athletes were very respectable, polite and such a joy for me to be part of the service for them. JoAn Weber

At the 8:45 mark in when Wilma Rudolph is on the stage you can barely see me at the top left of the frame. I'm the 4th in from the left on the very top row playing fanfare trumpet!

_I have great memories of the soccer events at Kuntz Stadium and baseball at Bush Stadium. Collecting Amigo sports pins from Marsh Supermarket and meeting Gloria Estafan (Miami Sound Machine) at the closing ceremonies in the Hoosier Dome were most memorable for me._
