I got to see the '80 Bonneville in my yard on Wednesday. Coupe. Even has a factory power sunroof in it. Been sitting somewhere for years, moldy inside, and the frame rotted. Totally complete though. I took some video. I wonder how rare a power sunroof is. I didn't know it existed before I saw that one. Glass in it is cracked though. I think the only difference on those caps is the center insert. I had an '87 Safari. They made them to '89 because mine had an '89 tailgate on it. Then I found they only made like 5,000 or so that year. That one looks almost exactly like mine, same color, same woodgrain.

Yes, the Brougham Coupe is rare, and the power roof is rare too. My parents bought one new in 1980, it was stolen in 1982. The NYPD cop that came to do the report said, "Forget it Mac, that car is on a boat overseas already". There were organized groups stealing them (especially without leather interiors) and exporting them to the Middle East back then.

This body style went from 1977 - 1990 for G.M. (excluding Pontiac, which was not produced in 1983 or 1990,) and 1979 - 1991 for Ford and Mercury. These 1990 models, the last year G.M. "Boxy" Wagon Models, have the front seat belts attached to the doors. It's stupid, because if the door opens in a collision, you could be yanked out of the car. But, that's what G.M. did instead of putting air bags in their cars. Meanwhile, the 1990 and 1991 Ford and Mercury models that look about the same have an air bag for the driver. I own a 1990 Grand Marquis, and yes, it had the typical mid 90s "Ford Air Bag" Steering Wheel with the horn buttons on the side.

Whoa Nelley, I had posted a reply and now it's dry (gone). Mastercraft is a boat dealer in Fort Worth, TX: www.texasmastercraft.com/ Hudiburg Chevrolet is now Autonation Chevrolet at 7769 Grapevine Hwy, North Richland Hills, TX 76180. I'm sure both 307 engines would run again with little effort. Those 307 engines run, run, run, run, run and run some more. Very reliable, but have the power curve of a Briggs and Stratton equipped lawn mower. LOL. Yes, the 1990 has a THM200-4R (RPO code "MW9"). We got the VIN, we win: 1G1 for US made Chevrolet, BN for Caprice Classic, 8 for station wagon, 4 for "automatic" belts, Y for the 307 Olds V8 with four barrel, aka RPO code "LV2", 7 is a check digit, L for the 1990 model year, A for Lakewood Heights/Atlanta, GA assembly (which closed in 1990, and the video of the last day can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpDZioeVo7-VfKM) and the rest is the production sequence. Possible code #75 Red Metallic exterior paint. 1995 Caprice 9C1 has a 4.3 engine in it. VIN gets us the win: 1G1 for US made Chevrolet, BL52 for Caprice, W for 4.3 V8 with MFI, 1 is a check digit, S for the 1995 model year, R for Arlington, TX assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Paint code U9753 is Bright White exterior paint. G80 is of course posi and GU5 is 3.23 rear axle ratio. No, 1989 was the last year for the Pontiac full size wagon. Buick, Chevrolet and Olds kept through the 1990 model year, but not Pontiac. We got the VIN, we win: 1G2 for US made Pontiac, BL81 for Safari Wagon, Y for Olds 307 V8 with four barrel, aka RPO code "LV2", X is a check digit, H for the 1987 model year, X for Fairfax, KS assembly and the rest is the production sequence. Got the SPID, glad you did: AU3 for power locks, A31 for power windows, G66 for "Superlift" level control, FAI for Fairfax, KS assembly, C60 for AC, C49 for rear defroster, N33 for tilt wheel, K34 for cruise control, MW9 for THM200-4R transmission, NA5 for standard Federal emission, CD4 for delay wipers, VK3 for front plate bracket, among others. U8575 is Light Chestnut exterior paint. Whoa Nelley, it's the wood that used to make it good. 307 and going to Heaven. LV2, it's over for you. That's it, time to quit. The box no longer rocks. Going to be flat and that's that. Going to get squished, get those parts quick, or you're going to be pissed.
