Even back in the day it was cheaper to replace a damaged or rusty Maestro door but least you repaired them From time to time Maestro door skins genuine ones do appear on ebay but it's a big job to do.

Heat gun is best for removing stripes,then tar/glue remover.

I'd agree on stripes that are 10 years old or less. These were above thirty years old and brittle in places. The toffee wheel is far less prone to scorching the paint too once you get the hang of it. Tar remover definitely a good choice either way.
