Ah, well. I wasn't there at this piece of history. I was 20. A serious fan. I thought the tickets were too expensive. There's a lesson for you kids...Sod the expense. These moments are priceless! I've regretted it ever since. I saw Louise at The South Bank a year or so ago. She's still sensational. Look back in...regret...I've had a few...

This is a man who truly lived every day, even when he was doing things that were so bad for him. My God. The privilege of saying we knew OF him, heard and saw him perform, even if only on TV/movies/records, etc., is something that makes my life better. This is a remarkable performance.

I managed to get a £12 ticket - they sold a few standing room only tickets right at the back of the top circle. The whole evening was magical - it was a benefit concert for the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and there was some other acts on - Woodentops and the Kronos String Quartet spring to mind - but everyone was there for Bowie. I believe it was his only performance in 1988. Between each set they played Arvo Part and Gorecki - composers who at the time weren't well known. Totally magical. Bowie finally came on at the end of the evening for just 10 minutes - 10 minutes that was visually and sonically stunning - a real chill down the spine moment that I'll never forget.

Not the only one - cheap at the price. Skipped the end of term at boarding school to see seven minutes off bliss. The tension throughout the night (not just whether I could catch the last tube back to school) was amazing - is he here or not - one of the best moments.

I do remember when Louise was talking about doing that show, for her it was like surreal. La La La Human Steps were innovative at that time and David Bowie was coming often in Montréal and I think he discovered them when he came. Louise is more than a dancer she's an athlete, look at her body. The guy who dance with her is not a dancer anymore, he's a comedian. His name is Marc Béland

Me! I was near the front on the left hand side. The closest I've ever been to him! My seat was in the back row. Everyone rushed the stage when he came on.

David Bowie is so graceful and smooth in his movements on this video when he walks across the stage, when he does that dip down so that she can jump over him, himself lifting up, then the stroll off the stage he slips his arm around her to bring her back on the stage with the dance. The others are good dancers but there’s not the gliding of movement that David Bowie has

All dancers know it's true.. you spend your life abusing your body to make someone else look good... LaLa!! you couldn't have done it for a better frontman !!! OMG I'd give my eye teeth to be La La in this moment/tour!!! My middle name is Louise... I SO LOVE Bowie!! ...and i'm SO GREEN with envy--the woulda/shoulda/coulda of my days in dance class.. LALALA!!!! you got what some of us only dream of.. and you sweatted ALL YOUR LIFE to be THAT GOOD!!! I SEE IT!!! I'm not sure how many others do....

A very special night for me for many reasons. Not least as this signaled the end of his 'Phil Collins' years. The Woodentops in support were extraordinary. Rolo McGinty, I'm still jealous and still in awe.

Basically this is the kind of stuff St Vincent would love to do... But she hasn't got a song like Look back in Anger in her repertoire...nor anything remotely close even 🙂 Complicated is only cool when based upon real talent, not just posing.
