I used to own a white '88 Prelude Si 4WS identical to the one featured in this video. Loved that car. The 4 wheel steering was a hoot. Was excellent for parking. Don't really know why that technology never caught on. I thought it was great. All these years later and still driving Honda/Acura automobiles. Currently have a 2010 Acura TSX V6 Tech.

I bought the 89' model new. I always loved this car and now my kid has it. What a car Mr Honda ! Never caused any problem. Maybe I'm lucky, but this is the best car I ever owned.

You may regret passing it to your kid one day. I have heard too many stories of owners getting rid of it then missing it and wanting it back when they can no longer have it back. It was either modified beyond recognition, neglected and bastardized or totaled by a fast and furious teen or tween.

The honda prelude is the easiest car to steer that I have ever driven. I shit you not. If you turn the feel fast enough and let go the steering wheel will keep spinning. You can steer it at a complete stop with you pinky. YOU HAVE TO TRY STEERING ONE IF YOU GET THE CHANCE. Its a religious experience. Its a pain in the ass getting these up to speed though. Lots of understeer in the corners because its like a wheel barrow. Pretty much the whole weight of the car is over the front wheels.

The strangest review, the 4ws is completely different. You would have to be near brain dead in reality, not to notice both of the steering modes.At the end they show they displayed they dont understand the 4ws, its not just for parking or low speed. No ego involved, we drive them to enjoy handling performance. Do you get on a rollercoster with ego?

Honda didn't give up. They went through a partial hostile take-over during the 1990's by their domestic competitors. For Canada & the U.S., the last true Honda was 1995.

viperfan7 You must be joking. You don't have a 3rd Gen prelude I can tell and am certain of that. I am an owner of this model prelude for over 17 years (car is now over 23 years old) and I can tell you the 4ws on the 3rd Gen requires no maintenance. In fact I am yet to see a 4ws 3rd gen prelude with a problematic 4ws mechanism.

crxdelsolsir Short answer is, it is not appreciated by the target market in that product price band bracket. Now that 4ws is no longer common and doesn't cheapen being reintroduced as an option for the rich and famous it is once again hailed as a functional, practical and innovative product with BMW, Porche and even Renault being all European brands now included 4ws as an option to their more premium of the line vehicles.
