Charles Smith is arguably the most overlooked, underrated Hoya of all time, imo. Before Iverson, it was Smith. Growing up, my two favorite PGs to watch & mimic was Magic & Charles Smith. He & Sherman Douglass used to have some WARS!

I missed this game and the Selection Show because my CBS station in St. Louis showed a telethon all weekend

Hard to believe that in their next game this Georgetown would be fighting for their lives against 16th seed Princeton

I think it was based off this performance that it might have clouded people’s perception of Georgetown. They played an almost perfect game here, much like Vegas against Duke a year later.

@@user-em1dw3ft6m I think it was more than just this one game, they ran through the entire Big East tournament with relative ease and everyone was saying they were peaking at the right time of the season.

@@SuperstarSS44 B.C was awful though and Pitt was average at best. But to demolish this absolutely loaded Syracuse club, I believe it changed peoples view. But who’s to say this game wasn’t for the #1 seed in the East Regional? Syracuse would have had two wins over Georgetown and beat a Seton Hall club that we all saw later, was pretty darn special. How could Georgetown survive against an average Ivy League club, the very next game after running a clinic and highlight reel tape against a top 5 Cuse? And I think the answer is pretty simple really. And that is, although this was a very VERY good Georgetown club, and certainly the best of the Mourning of the Mutombo era, they really were not THAT good.

@@user-em1dw3ft6m I don’t know, I just remember them being in or around the top five in the country all season and they had three players that went on to play ten plus years in the NBA,with Mourning,Mutombo and Jaren Jackson ,but hey, I was a fan so I might have been biased .

Do you have the Gtown-Pitt game they showed at the beginning of the tape?
