Willie Nelson has a line in a song that says "Come on back Jesus, and pick up John Wayne on the way"... with the current state of affairs in the Duke's beloved America right now, I surely wish that that line in that song would come true. I bet he is looking down with a tear in his eye, both Jesus and John Wayne.

I watched The Searchers in Las Vegas Nevada 1957. On the big screen. I was 12. Great experience. The air conditioning was nice too. Candy was 5 cents. Popcorn with real butter 15 cents and cold drinks 10 cents.

I grew up during his top grossing yrs. and his popularity, 1960s thru too 1979 when he died. Like my father I admired, idolized, and truly appreciated his skills as an Actor. I'm positive my Father, respected, and agreed with the Duke on a Political level, as for me I have never based my likes, or dislikes, of anyone, on the basis of thier beliefs!! To me life is too precious too make judgements, of others by their association, of Religion, Politics, Social orig., or for that matter who they hang around with. IF I like n trust them? They are A ok with me. I agree that in my youth and young Adult hood John Wayne, represented what we as Americans should try too be, or be precieved, as by the rest of the World. Now after 40 years since his death? I think a lot of that image of American, and Americans. Has given us a bad Rep in the views of the other nations, of the World. The rest of the World has made it's judgements, based on our Governments representative's, Policies, and of all things it's actions, over those Forty years. Today as well as in the past " John Wayne ", is still a Great American. Long may his Name n Legacy endure. Thank you for the previous Documentary, and video on The Duke. Wyo, Robert, 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸🇨🇦🇺🇸🌈🌈🌈🌈👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎🙌🙌🙌🙌

Never fought for his country. Strange how his movie image was no match for a true hero like Audie Murphy. .. John ford made his imagehow to talk and walk. James arness fought as a marine like Lee Marvin and charles Bronson as tail gunner.

You don't have to be in the military 0r police to fight for your Country ordinary People fight everyday for their Country and John Wayne was one of these whether at home or abroad he always put his Country America first Any one who loves there Country fights for its survival and its Good name

Interesting video: this a perfect example of an actor believing he truly is the character he playes. Only a close look at his life will tell you on screen he was great, in real life he was a fraud. If he had served in the military he would have remembered the oath we took apon enlisting To protect and defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic Now the constitution stand for freedom and justice / The bill of rights Political freedom and freedom of association where fine with him as long as your views and choice of politics where in line with his . He was what One calls a ( nationalist ) America do or die / I took an oath in school each day to the ( republic ) and in the military to the ( constitution ) But old John just believe in ( America right or wrong ) regardless of what we did even if it meant violating our ( republic ideas ) or the ( constitution) If alive today he would be a Trump supported and member of the ( proud boys ) they represent his vision of America

Not sure you watched it all, did you? There were several times during the documentary when he criticized U.S. policy. Like most, Wayne loved his country and the principles upon which it was built, but exercised his right to criticize it when it made bad decisions, e.g. native american/indian policy, vietnam war, etc.
