These two lifts have been present since the centre opened in 1973. I know nothing about lifts, but I'm guessing that they must have replaced the carriages in 1989. The space between the two lifts used to house a staircase, but was removed on the shopping levels in 1996 in favour of a completely new stair system in front of the lifts. The old staircase is retained between the parking levels 2-3, but in keeping with the overall refurbishment of the entire centre in '96, was transformed with better lighting and a brighter coloured tiling scheme.

I see, interesting about the stairs. Looking at the door tracks and lanterns on the landings, I would say that these lifts are modernised express lifts.
