'89 was the greatest tour ever. Drama, hard-fought stages, iconic riders, tactics, and no EPO. Lemond's attack on the descent was very savvy. Fignon was darn close to losing serious time but courageously fought back in the last couple KM.

Fignon lost serious time. 13 seconds! If he had not...

With "no EPO" I wouldn't be sure but rest is totally true

For me this was the perhaps the end of the greatest era for the TdF and one if not the best one of them. Note how the fans respect the riders even going over the top of the climbs giving them room, not like some of the shameful behaviour of recent years. Perhaps the one thing to have improved is camera stabilisation ;) Thanks for posting this

These videos were supposed to be for a personal friend who wasn't a fan, so I tried to make up as many interesting elements as I could to hold her attention, hoping she'd get an interest in cycling. I knew one reason I love this sport so much is I know the stars, so I amplified their personalities to make them these larger than life goofy people. Roche was the drunk, Kelly referred to himself in 2nd person (Sean Kelly likes peanut butter), LeMond was anxious for attention, so he did, among other things, a lot of streaking, Fignon was turning into a woman, Andy Hampsten was a male version of Little Orphan Annie (we called him Little Orphan Andy). The rest I just made up as I went along. My friend called Jeli Nijdam "Jelly". It's hard enough for some to remember the foreign names. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to make my videos unlisted at the time. I hope Degado doesn't see this. I feel a little bad about that. It was an inside joke when I started racing in Japan--when someone would attack we'd yell ahead and tell them their mother had died. I hope Degado's father is still alive and healthy!
