This is a fascinating season to watch. End of the classic 80s shape cars, grid packed with legends, and the very beginnings of all the telemetry coming into play.

i figured it out. now a days (NASCAR mainly has this problem but Indycar has it at times) when tv covers it today, they only focus on the leaders and thats it. back in the 80s and 90s they would find battles and show them. thats why tv coverage was so much better back then

I remember when Michael Andretti would deliberately run the front wing tip into a tire to cut it on a car he couldn't pass. I think they had to make a rule to keep him from doing that. I think what Jr did to Mario was a racing incident.

Mario unlike Foyt was competitive into his mid 50s, that's what allowed him to be at a high level during a good portion of his sons prime. Definitely the king of longevity people thought Emerson was really old to be driving at such a level during this time but Mario is a solid decade older 😅

At the beginning of the front stretch, you can see marshals standing right out on the track. At one point, one of them is on track pushing a car during green. The in car shots show no padding around the head, no HANS, and nothing covering the head. It's amazing how unnecessarily dangerous this series was.
@penskepc23744 жыл бұрын
That's just not true. The majority of safety innovations came from CART be it equipment or the procedures of the safety team. F1 and Nascar both lagged behind. ...and who had a hans in 1989? Lol. Some drivers in CART wore I think it was called the hendrickson device?? But it wasn't by any means common.

Are you going to post the rest of the 1989 season? If so, be careful of D*** Video. They already blocked two races from this season (Road America & Mid-Ohio). Tread Lightly, IndyCar.......
