1990 Alabama vs. #3 Tennessee Highlights

This game was huge for Alabama that year! After Tennessee beat Florida 45-3, I think we all thought Tennessee would run Alabama out of town. But that defense just played lights out. They played the last 20 minutes of the game behind the 8-ball and kept coming up with huge plays. One of my favorite memories of this rivalry.

Yeah I think it was...2007 is up there, but this UT team had natty talk and was loaded and experienced. This Alabama team struggled on offense a lot of the year. We got batter after the 0-3 start. We lost a lot after 1989. The 89 team shouldn’t have lost but...My first Alabama game was the 90 IB in Birmingham...We sat I all around Auburn fans...I got to high five Philip Doyle after the game and he signed my program...I was 9...

That is correct Man JM wasn’t that good against Bama simply took the game too seriously. He would play Bama songs put Alabama stickers on their lockers by the time they were ready to play they’d be in such shell shock it caused them not to have as good a record as they could

I can get on board with Majors playing to not lose, but I don’t see how anyone can say the Vols were the best team in 1990. They tied the team that won the championship…but that team was missing it’s best player, too. A good Vols team, better than my Tide that year, but not best overall.

And later that Night on ESPN Auburn beats Florida State snap a 3 year losing streaks and ending a 10 year contract which would expire by end of the 1999 season.

I was in auburn that day visiting a friend...watched this game from the dog track in shorter...then went to the FSU game that night

Stallings loved to play the field position & lean on his defense. But I bet he was abou ready to put a hurting on our punter during this game with his 2 shanks for 20 yards each.

I'll never forget Lee Corso making the comment before this game that "here's where the boys play men" or some close variation of that. He's been picking against 'Bama for 30 years and he's usually wrong!!
