I feel bad for those two, only old cars in their garage! They'll never know the pleasure of leasing a new Honda Civic, putting "Type-R" stickers all over and a $40 fart can exhaust and putting those pesky Geo Metro owners to shame when the V-Tech kicks in.

I went to Maranello this summer, Italy. I saw it in reality for the very first time. It s nothing like your little match box car or a photo u d look at. it is magnificent in reality. Far more than you d think. It looks so modern so slick. I just stood there a looked at it..for a rather long time. It s lie M Angelo decided to make one car... Love the F 40. Tho I m a Porsche guy... Its my favorite of all time. hands down.

If you're having trouble imagining just how quick 200mph is, in 1989 I was standing on a small parking lot next to Autobahn 7 (I think, we were driving to Austria and I was sharing driving duties with my dad) when one of these came by at full pelt. Before I'd said "Dad, look, a Ferrari!", it was all but out of view.

I remember seeing a very old video filmed from the cockpit of a car - my memory is saying it was an F40 - going flat out, 200mph, on a regular highway/autobahn/motorway/whatever. Seeing how quickly it approached and passed regular traffic - traffic that would have been moving at 60-80mph probably - was downright scary. Literally no margin for error at that speed.

The F40 -- What a dream Car ! The year was 1992. I went to the Dealership on Common Avenue. in Boston. There was a "MAGNUM PI FERRARI" parked in front of the building. Impressed, I walked around the vehicle. However, in the Dealership there was a 1992 F40 -- it blew my brains out ! Upon exiting the showroom, I saw the "Magnum Ferrari" again. Somehow, it looked -- insignificant ! The body, even the weels looked rather common . Analysing all the array of modern Supercars -- and the F40 still takes the cake !

Huge shoutout to Nicola Materazzi, the man that almost single handedly designed this car (and a lot of other Ferrari, from the gto to the Testarossa). From the engine, to the gear box, to the air intakes, almost everything of this car was produced by his mind. A real genius throwed away by the Fiat management.

indeed. the GTO Evo had poor drag coefficient so Materazzi asked for a different shape to be drawn and wind tunnel tested for the F40. a lot of the intakes, vents, the 3rd middle pipe for the wastegate, the very light interior are his ideas. the car got criticised for a number of things which happened because after he left nobody implemented things like the option of different size seats or on-track training which Enzo had agreed would have been offered. Fiat simply pocketed the money and made many more than originally planned.

Give me a break. He's always talked about liking the older models and the older spirit of the company. He's made it pretty clear he doesn't like what they've become and he doesn't feel the need to have to prove himself by buying all these 288's, F40's etc...just so he can get the new model. He'd rather buy from companies that were like what Ferrari was under enzo.

Spokane Wa 1994 my uncle Jason RIP picked me up from fifth grade in a yellow 308 gts Ferrari. Spokane is a smaller city for sure, probably 250k Population back then. Not known for any exotic cars, it was amazing he had one. And many others porsche, lotus, lamborghini. My uncle had them all, not at once, just trade in/upgrade. However I always got to ride in the exotics. I got more seat time then anyone, besides Jason himself. Acura NSX, Dodge Viper, hot rods, muscle cars. So I got bit at a early age and still have the sickness. The 308 was awesome and I'll never forget the smiles per gallon and thumbs up. RIP uncle Jason and thanks for the memories. I haven't seen a Ferrari in Spokane to this day. They recently built a Porsche dealership in liberty lake, that is about it. Now the population has doubled and someone could probably do well opening a car lot for these cars, a smaller lot of course. CDA idaho not far and the "Celebrities" are buying up vacation homes on lake CDA to the dismay of locals. Anyway, love the channel Jay Leno thanks for sharing these legendary card, truly entertaining in a time of negativity and nothing but crap on TV.

Tell that to Ralph Lauren who owns basically all of the 250 series Le Mans racecars. He'll laugh so long. A cheaper quality Ferrari from the 80s has nothing on all-time legend classics. The F40 doesn't have any true, inspiring history. It was just a product.

I mean pretty much every Group-B are about the same : brutal, crazy, raw & pure mechanical beasts of cars (Statos, 037, S4, Audi S1 Sport Quattro, Peugeot 205 T16 turbo, Ford RS 200). But the F40 is definitely more, since has the ultimate mental experience crazy car for today streets, the whole thing pops instantly if is ever used among the other common cars, is looking very intimidating, with that sound it definitely turn heads, the racing-style body with big wing and those massive rear wide Pirelli Zero.. is really Epic.

i saw an F40 in a fuel garage in the UK about 15 years ago. i was on a yamaha R6. i started chatting to the guy and he showed me around the car. he was keen on his bikes too. as we were leaving he said ' i guess we should see what's faster' it was pretty tight up to 160mph (we were 2x up on the bike). i remember it just sucking up the autumn leaves from the road and spitting them out back, it was just a glorious sight to see. he turned off and gave us a wave as he left the dual carriage way.

David Lee has some pretty impressive Ferraris in his Collection. Jay in another episode of JL'sG drove David's 275GTB 4 cam. Born in Hong Kong and son of Chinese Immigrants, he took his Father's Jewelry business to another Elite level and made him wealthy enough to be able to own 12+ million dollars worth of Ferraris. 26 yrs is an eternity in the Auto World when talking technology. Back in the 60's if your Car could reach 60mph in under 6 seconds, that was considered a muscle car. This F40 was something in the low 4 second range back in the 90's which now days is a turtle when compared to even the ZO6 Corvette which is in the high 2's with the 8 speed auto. I'm not a fan of Computerized Super Cars so the F40 is still really an old school Car. I'm sure now that Jay has driven his first F40 he will probably be looking for one to add to his massive Car Collection, Good Luck Jay...

I think Jay is warming up to the idea that his collection needs a Ferrari. An F40 would be a car that he could obtain. Expensive but not as rare as say a Ferrari 288 GTO which for me would be the ultimate Ferrari to own (other than the original GTO and Ferrari California from the 60s). David should make Jay drive the 288 GTO, I think Jay will love it.
