I had the same engine in my 1996 Mitsubishi Pajero 2500 Intercooler Turbo. Not the fastest car, but damn it was fun to drive with that 5-speed manual. And for a 2-ton+ car it was quite good on fuel. 9.5 L / 100 km? Not bad. I would never want a gasoline V6 or V8 in an SUV. You literally have to live near gas stations 24/7. No thanks. Diesel all the way.

one thing people don't know about these cars. take the front and rear headrests off and lay the back of the seats down. the whole car has turned into a giant bed. witch is cool if you are stranded somewhere over night. i have never seen any car with this kind of well thought out layout.

my dad just got me this car as my first car, he got it for free with only 150ks on it. its pretty much the same as the one in the video (2.5L turbo diesel with an intercooler) accept its short wheel base. the body is a little bit rusted up so i decided to watch a review on it to see if it was worth the money, Thanks for the review 👍👍. Matt Dudley Yes these are the Montero Limited ! You cam get parts for them faily easy also. I am a huge Montero fan. Owned the 95 and 02. They are tough, and the low gear rang is the best i have seen on non modified vehicles ! They stopped being popular because our USA folks want that 8 cylinder power. They stopped importing them to the USA in 06.

This would be an awesome truck to have up here in Maine, I could be wrong but I don't believe you could get a diesel in the Montero's here in the states. Yeah you could buy a gas one an there probably isn't a huge amount of differences but the engine alone would make it worth it. A older vehicle like this would more than likely not be in as good of shape without someone doing a resto on it anyway due to rust ( they heavily salt roads here) but it would be nice to take out an drive the Mountains trails in it.

Nice rig... great condition! The tid bit about kids and seatbelts really is disturbing. Even in my country (a small Caribbean island) it's illegal to have children under 5 in the back without a restraint. Under 2 a car seat is required, and from 3-5 just the regular seatbelt is ok. It's not ideal, but still appears to be more than what Japan mandates.

Mitsubishi pajero was sold as Mitsubishi Montero in the US market and they had no diesel model available. Many US consumers didn't really like diesel cars because of their noise and terrible smell,lol. Also, believe it or not, same car was also manufactured here in South Korea by Hyundai under license from Mitsubishi since Hyundai and Mitsubishi were good partners. The Hyundai version of Pajero was sold as Hyundai Galloper :)

In spanish "Pajero" means "Lazy", but in a very insolent and obscene way; or in less words, someone who masturbates. That's why it was sold as "Montero" in the american continent, and as "Shogun" in some countries in europe.
@PacificCoastAuto7 жыл бұрын
When we looked it up with a dictionary it said, "One who masturbates frequently". I would love a shirt with a picture of a Pajero that says wanker on it.
@ClassicTVMan1981X7 жыл бұрын
Yet in Japan, "Pajero" is pronounced with a hard English "j" sound (as in "jump"), instead of the Spanish "j" sound (which would sound similar to Russian "kh," or the "ch" in Scottish "loch").
