Dessie's party was spoiled, but I think it was not an unpopular win. Norton's Coin was owned and trained by an ordinary dairy farmer, instead of anyone else more prominent in the racing world. He did his daily milking early in the morning of the raceday before hurrying to the racecourse to win this one.

When Cheltenham was 3 days pure class now they are talking about 5 days leave it out 4 days enough.

Loads of lads in my local, the Norton Arms, were on this one. A few quid each way and they were laughing all the way to the bookies.
