I drove the mighty F16 470 back in 1990. It is a beast. It killed many V8,s. Sheer power and torque. I loved it,still drive Volvo but F16 has a special place in my heart. You have a lovely machine. It looks like new. Perfect😃

@@TomasVarg Is this the same one when you picked it up? I saw your other KZbinmovie...You got the F16 for your birthday you told the viewers. The sound was awesome! I started my driving career in 1989 on the F12 and in 1990 i got a brandnew F16 Globetrotter 6x2. And i still drive Volvo. Huge Volvo fan. No V8 for me😂😂

The video is from a guy called turbogurra. So that is why i was wondering if it was the same truck. But of course i can be wrong.

Among the three F16 released, the best was the 485 and also the most performer. The other ones had some reliability issues

@@TomasVarg it was my crush back then my childhood where those beasts came out, late 80’s, early 90’s, this 470, turbostar 480, SK 48, MAN 462 and 502 V10, Renault Magnum 500, scania 143 470 and 500, daf 95 500 cummins engine, good old days and they were so distinctive.

@@joseteixeira5900 I drove the F16 470 for many years,never had problems with it. I loved it. It was a beast,so powerful and reliable. It killed the Scania V8 with ease. I drive Volvo for 35 years,started on the splendid F12 and then the mighty F16. Still remember the sound of the TD162F engine. Gross weight was always around 50 tons. It hauled it with ease. I had the sleeper cab with the roofrack and ladder on the side of the cab. Fond memories. Now i have a FH500 TC,a brilliant truck but the F16 was something special.

@@miquel440 my experience with my father was with F10 320, Scania 112M 340, F12 360, MAN F90 19.362, Iveco 190.36, F12 385 (round headlights). The 112 could easily take F12 360, despite being older with 5+5 simple gearbox. The Man 362 was toe to toe with F12 385, if one of them missed a gear, was fatal 😆. Iveco had a pretty strong torque at low rpm, it had almost 14 liter displacement, however, it was not at the same level as F90 362. For the V8’s, the 14 liter V8 had the opposite behavior against Volvo 16 liter. The volvo has much more torque at lower rpm, but the V8 has even more torque beyond the green band, the peak torque, so it depends how much you want to pull it. The volvo as far as my concern from other truck drivers, they don’t like too much passing over the green band, is a natural behavior from an engine with big displacement with less cylinders. But anyway, they were great engines.

Åker man runt i Sydamerika lär man se gamla volvo F16 med svenska åkeri namn kvar lite kul å se mitt i ingenstans. Eftersom min far körde bara Scania fick jag följa med en annan åkare som hade f 16 470 när jag gick i 7an körde timmer han me kommer i håg ljudet å hur tyst det va i hytten. Kul att nån finns kvar i Sverige.
