I love how he talks about the price of food and refusing to skimp on quality.

This was back when a lot of these fast food places had integrity. They understood the blue collar men and women, those people who got off work after a long day and wanted a substantial yet affordable meal. Growing up, my parents worked their tails off to provide for me and my two brothers, we had everything we needed and most things we wanted, but sometimes we’d have to stretch out a dollar a little more. Sunday was the day we went grocery shopping, and we’d always stop at Taco Bell beforehand because on Sunday, their tacos (and I think their beef/bean burritos) were just 39¢ a piece. So that came in clutch for my parents, paying just $7 or $8 to feed themselves and three children.

The great thing about Dave is that he wasn't a professional actor. He was a bit stiff in his line reading, but he made that part of his persona and it was charming.

Companies can no longer market in this manner because the corporatists have discarded any connection to the layman consumer. Dave at that time had already organized his company into a corporate structure and stayed on as a front man due to his connection to the consumer base. He learned many marketing lessons from Colonel Sanders in this regard (Dave used to work for Kentucky Fried Chicken). However, a man usually cannot outlive his globally marketed corporation and when he died, Wendy's became just another fast food pit without any discernable differences from its competitors in the marketplace.
