スパイダーマンたちがDr.ドゥームに奪われた”賢者の石”を取り戻すために戦う格闘アクション。ゲームは奥行きのあるビッグモードと、サイドビューでキャラが小さいワイドモードが随時入れ替わりながら進行する。ワイドモードではいろいろな場所につかまることが可能。セリフがフキダシ表示されるなどの演出がある。全14ステージ構成。4人同時プレイも可能でスパイダーマンの他にも、サブマリナー、ブラックキャット、ホークアイなどを使うことができる。

A sideways scrolling beat-em-up for 1 to 4 players; choosing from Spider-Man, Black-Cat, Hawkeye or Sub-Mariner. The heroes must fight their way through four levels of Dr. Doom's villains; including Venom, The Scorpion, The Lizard, The Green Goblin, The Sandman, The Kingpin, The Hobgoblin, Electro, Dr. Octopus and, of course, Dr. Doom himself.
Each player character has a different weapon or power that can be used throughout the game while fighting. Spider-Man uses his webs, The Black Cat uses her 'cat's claw' grappling hook and cable, Hawkeye uses his bow and arrows and The Sub-Mariner uses his hydro-electric charges. The game's viewpoint pans in and out between alternate large and small scale (4-way scrolling) sections. The game's 'camera' zooms out on alternate levels with the zoomed-out view introducing four-way scrolling platform sections to the gameplay. The game ends when the fourth and final chapter has been completed.

Some of the tunes used in Spider-Man - The Video Game, are actually remixed tunes from Sega's 1986 arcade game, "Quartet".

I remember this arcade game from Sega is Spider Man the Arcade game in 1991 I still played it for a long time and I also loved classic arcade games like Pac Man, Ghostbusters, Michael Jackson's Moonwalker, Golden Axe, Pole Position, Ms Pac Man, Punch Out and lots more too!!!!! This was released around the same time as TMNT: Turtles in Time and eventually, Captain America and the Avengers. And this was made by Sega for the Sega System 32 hardware (same one as Arabian Fight and Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder)

It sure is! They re-used "OKI Rap," but as an instrumental and I will always love that little touch. That, and I greatly appreciate the use of "FM Funk" on stage 2.

イヤ～昔からのアメコミ好きとしては、アーケードでもアメコミゲームはイッパイ出ましたけど、このセガ・スパイダーマンが一番！と思ってますね。 ７０年代とかニールアダムス風なアメコミを再現してるようで、ドット絵から各キャラのポーズからかなり上手いんですよね！ 見かけたら今でもプレイします。 色使いとか各キャラ、、、猿とかサブマリナーとか見てると、ＡＣ版Ｅ－スワットと同じドッターさんじゃないか？と思うんですよね。。。 あ！そうそう・・・コレ、体力が時間と共に少しずつ減ると言う仕様。。。 アーケードなんでお金使ってこそなのは分かるんですが・・・ヒドイ。 その謎体力減システムにも負けず自分もＤｒドゥームまでは１コインで行くんですけど、ヴェノムの大群で力尽きる。。。 後、ナゼだかカルテットのアレンジＢＧＭも使われてるんですよね。 ファンキーK.H.さんが関わってるのかな？？？ まぁ～コレとコナミの幼女！ことＧＩジョーが一番移植して欲しいタイトルなんですよね。。。 ちなみに・・・各ステージ冒頭の演出も素晴らしいんで、次に違うキャラでプレイする時は飛ばさないで欲しいです。。。
