“The White Knight” Dick Trickle a true short track legend. I’m sure a lot of the older racers/racing fans remember Canadian great #72 Junior Hanley who was an absolute machine back in the day & Dick Trickle & Junior Hanley had a few great battles. It was funny when Trickle pulled into victory lane & the interviewer said it’s hard to get Dick Trickle to smile even after winning lol & Junior Hanley was the same way where you might get a quick smirk but that’s all your going to get out of him & Hanley was already thinking of the next race even before he hopped out in victory lane lol.

I'm one of those "older fans" who grew up in mid-Michigan. Owosso Speedway was built before WWll, and was a German POW camp for a few years. It was a big, high banked half mile. I attended my first race around 1973, and was hooked. We had some great local talent like the Fedewa's, the Mulder's, Jim Aldrich, Alan Taft, and others. We also regularly saw Junior Hanley, Bob Senneker, Mike Eddy, Butch Miller, Joy Fair, Ed Howe, and Randy Sweet. When the ASA started coming to Owosso, we saw Dick Trickle, Johnny Benson, Rusty Wallace, Ken Schrader, Mark Martin, and many others who eventually became the core of NASCAR in the 80's, 90's, etc. There was also a fair amount of Midget racing, Sprint Cars, and Super Mods. What a track that was! All the best to you Sudsy!

I was there! Sadly due to traveling, work and relocating to Texas. This was the last race I attended in person!😢❤️

How did the Minnesota State Fair get to how they got to their Single Day Use Policy? I feel like for all the nice things Minnesota and the Twin Cities, I'd feel a formal Fairgrounds Speedway/State Fairground Revival has to be one of them. I still feel awful for my State's State Fair Speedway (Iowa State Fair Speedway) not being back since the Day after 108 and the Cubs Pennant. In serious, I'd feel Driver Development/Permanent Homes Post-ARCA has to be brought up later in this future.

I WANT THAT OSWEGO ASA RACE!

I was at that Oswego ASA race :). It was a rare and legendary event. But not the greatest car race. Jim Sauter crashed out in practice, Jr. Hanley was strangely way off pace, and not a lot of passing.

Man, did race fans in Minnesota lose something special. Regret not ever making it to the State Fair for any race.

Do you have any pre-1991 ASA races, including any of the MIS races from the 1980s (save for 1985, which has always been posted), or any of the 1979-1980 races that were also televised on ESPN in its early stages of televising motorsports.

I have ASA races before '91. I have the '94 MIS race. No ESPN races.

@@JordanStAmant7 Do you have the stock car connection races that Tom Curley put on with the ASA cars racing the ACT? Looking for the race from Sanair particularly.
