Mine was a 1989 County Square LX Wagon. White with a burgundy cloth interior. Despite the weight the 5.0 L engine handled the car with smooth acceleration, it was very quiet and responsive on the highway. I was its 2nd owner, I just loved it. Never disappointed. The first owners were seniors, what a surprise. Dealer served from new. I bought it in1999 and it was a daily driver. But it never missed a 5,000 mi oil change with royal purple motor oil. Sadly it was side swiped in the snow. Honestly it didnt fair too badly, as all the snow, between the two cars acted like a major cushion. But the side was a little creased. I was able to sell the car for exactly what I bought it for $3,000 I was lucky enough to have the car for 8 years. I purchased it with 113,000 mi it and at at the time of the accident it had 181,000 when i sold it, The car both road and drove like it was a brand new car when i gave her up.

A very clean Country Squire, in the last year of manufacture for the wagon. I have a 1991 Crown Victoria LX ( no wood siding ) in equally good condition. I got 23 mpg on a trip to Norfolk , Virginia which I consider good for a car that weighs 5,550 lbs. However when towing a trailer count on only 10 mpg. I had it completely restored in 2020 and only have 14,000.0 miles on it since. It gets rave reviews at all the car shows I take it to as there are not many wagons left.

American station wagons were once a popular family car. Nowadays, not a single American automaker offers one.

Had a 1988 Country Squire LX looked the same without the wood, and a 91 Merc Colony Park. Have to say that Ford got 26-27 mpg hwy, tight handling, lot of low torque, handy like a pick up, best car I have ever owned. The 91 Merc not so much

Must've been a big deal back then because they ended production. GM kept making them. But then the tables turned with full sized sedans being last made by ford.

The last Country Squire wagon after 40 years (41 model years) I remember a lot of them in the 1960s and '70s when they were people haulers. Looks more handsome than a mini van any day. Hope this one wasn't driven during a bunch of Rhode Island winters and road salt.
