Kentucky Derby. His jockey, Gustavo Avila still alive. Trainer Juan Arias died in 2022 and owner Pedro Baptista passed away in 1985. Baptista couldn't travel to Louisville due to financial problems. Canonero's groom, Juan Quintero took care about the horse like he was a small child since they arrived to United States. From Miami, they went to Louisville in a special truck.
