I had a 1990 Beretta GTZ Model w/the 5 Speed Muncie Transmission. It was my first car, and my first love!! Countless times I had that car pegged past the 120 mph mark where the gauge topped out. Loved...That....Car....

Had a Cavalier with the 2.4 quad 4,python injection intake manifold ,fuel rail,and injectors, Garrett 35 mm turbo, eagle head bolts,headman header flipped upside down cut and welded a T3 flange, was a bitch to get the tune right,never put on a dyno guessing between 280,and 320 at 8lbs of boost, stock auto trans and gutted interior, ran a 12.56 at 123 mph

7 head gaskets later.....
@aaronchoate2143 жыл бұрын
Bzzzt! I actually ran this setup for almost 80k miles before I sold the car and didn't have a lick of issue with the headgasket. They were really only a problem in 90-91, once they released the improved design they would go 200k+ without gasket issues. But thanks for commenting ;)

@@aaronchoate214 92 olds achieva quad 4, D vin, 76k blown head gasket, 2 engine swaps, both blown head gaskets, kinda puts a huge hole in your 90-91 theory bud. But thanks for the input
@aaronchoate2143 жыл бұрын
@@773alonzo - very likely just never got the updated gasket. Any engines produced in 90-91 (including 92 model year) saw failure rate usually between 60-80k miles. I've owned 9 cars with the Q4 and never had a failed head gasket on one with a confirmed newer design. I've also assisted friends or changed myself over 30 Q4 head gaskets (been in the community over 23 years now). I'm sure it's possible for a new design to fail early, especially if the head gasket was changed and proper procedure wasn't followed or coolant wasn't maintained properly, but it was very unusual in my experience.

@@773alonzo 30 head gaskets and he's been doing this for 23 years, that seems fairly normal for engines with variants known to have bad head gaskets.
