This 1992 Cadillac is incredible. It's an all original example that has only covered 36K miles since new. Black over black, it's sincerely amazing.
Chris Moran is a certifiable gearhead. Since childhood, Chris has been obsessed with cars of all kinds. These days, he hosts “Chris Drives Cars” which showcases unique and exceptional cars of all kinds. On the channel, you’ll see vehicles from Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Maybach, McLaren, Audi, and many more. Focusing on the experience of the vehicle, Chris gets in depth in ways most hosts won’t. Test drives are always filmed to capture the feeling of being behind the wheel, capturing the sights and sounds of piloting each vehicle.

I always loved the more rectangular Cadillacs! 1977-1992 Coupe De Ville and Brougham were iconic! I remember when my father would drive us down Michigan Avenue past the Clark street plant, you could see the Cadillacs on the overhead conveyor crossing the Avenue! The sun made the paint on them look breathtaking! Detroit really knew how to build ‘em! 👏🏾

I wish someone still made a car like this. Just a luxury car, with no 'sport' incorporated into it at all. Where the goal is to separate you from the elements and the car as much as possible. I guess Rolls still does this, but 1/4 mil seems a bit unreasonable.

Matthew Thrasher : I understand that’s some what Lincoln is trying to do. Good road manners, good handling but not a sports cars. Ford’s not sure what do do because it’s getting great reviews & generally a likable luxury car but sales suck. I’ve had 3 Mercedes Benz since 1994 & I have wondered since I bought my first Audi about 1977 why didn’t General Motors just buy a BMW, Audi, Mercedes Benz, Toyota & Honda combine all the best qualities. Since this car all they try to do is re-invent the wheel. Make a BMW, less expensive, more suitable for Americans, dependable, less upkeep, but with some of qualities that makes you a loyal Honda or Mercedes owner. At a car show looking at Cadillac SUV still too much cheap gee-whiz inside, & didn’t feel roomy. Asked a guy next to me does the front door close good, we studied it for a few minutes & no, something raddled a little& it seem to sag. My old ‘83 W123 300D with appox 245,000. Miles no raffles,& doors still closed like a bank vault & I always thought a great size -! No gee whiz. GM still needs to & could do a lot better. I’d like to see more “every bit as good or once even better.

@@barnesjohn7657 First - I love those old diesel Merc's! I'm going to be in the market soon looking for an old 240D that needs a little work - slow as hell, but a tank, reliable, and the perfect size! I'm not a pro, but I love Lincolns! And the new Conti is great! I think their sales problem might be that Lincoln put out nothing but uninspired garbage after the Mark VIII, maybe the Navi - it was just rebadged fords with leather. They might have an image problem to work through, which is tough. Ford did own Volvo, Land Rover, and Jag - and missed a hell of an opportunity. They just ignored them. And while not quite a luxury car, GM owned Saab and, same thing. Sad.

not even close to this automobile..This was the peak of luxury..The first order of a luxury automobile is roominess....that dont exist today,,,people were brainwashed into having their knees in the mouth, and shoulders pressed and hips in, with some new age rinkydinky kiddy style techy play objects in the car, and to them that's now supposed luxury,,,,today's buyers know nothing of real luxury cars anymore, like the 75 Imperial Labaron...

Back in the day, I worked on a ton of those C body Caddies, as they 1st came out in '77. Usually steering parts, shocks, starters, alts, some power accessory failures, stuff like that. Caddy sold lots and lots of this same basic platform in various trim levels. If 1 is looking for one, the best advice is to stay away from the Diesel and 4.1 V8 equipped cars. The much more common Olds 307 is gutless, but runs forever. In late 88, they started to phase in the Chevy engines, 305, and 350s with TBI and upgraded the trans from a lazy 200-4R to a 700-R4 . That combo made for a bullet proof drivetrain. The interior was largely unchanged throughout the cars' lifetime. Surprisingly, the build quality and fit and finish were actually pretty good for its time. As you stated, these cars were QUIET. GM paid very close attention to acoustics and improved them several times during that body style's run. They even experimented with several tire brands until the settled on the most quiet tire money could buy. By the end of its run, these were some of the most luxurious, most quiet cars in the world. As time went on, GM also used better paints and more use of galvanized steel panels to help prevent rot. The leather they used was among the best in the world and a heck of a lot more comfortable than those used in Europe. Though the car didn't handle worth spit in corners, it was never meant to. In 1990 through 92, the optional trailer towing package provided the car with bigger rear drums, a host of fluid coolers, a little more rear gear at I believe at 3.08 with or without posi, and hd suspension. If you can find 1 of those with the 5.7, it's surprising spritely for a car that was over 4400 lbs. When I see one of these Caddies on the road today, they bring back fond memories of the old traditional American full sized luxury cars, which I miss.

I agree with David - if only it had the 5.7 350 instead of the 307 Olds motor... Either way, though, you're better off than with the aluminum HT disasters. In fact, you're not "rockin' it", you're "Rocketing it" with the Oldsmobile V8! 80> Also, I don't think I've ever owned a Lincoln or Cadillac with paint THAT NICE... Now can we just agree that the world has gone horribly wrong, and we need to rewind back to 1970 & start over?

Gorgeous. I have owned seven of the 90-92 Broughams (and several more pre 90 models). I always loved the 91-2 for the simple fact that the CCR (cruise command ride) tightened the steering at highway speeds. All of the 5.7 350 cars did around 24 mpg highway. The 5.0 305 still has decent pulling power and would easily do 28 mpg highway. The 4bbl 5.0 307’s were awful. 13 mpg. 0 power. Aside from a little bruising on the rear bumper/reflector and an aftermarket power antenna replacement, this thing is PERFECT and in the best color combo.

My first ever vehicle was in 08', a few years after high school ended for me. It was a 1981 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham V8-6-4 with 33k miles and I got it for $500 cash from my grandpas co-worker who had it in a garage for who knows how long. Awesome car, would have kept it too if I had a better job at the time and could afford $5 a gallon for gas in 08' with 7-10 MPG.

In my opinion best last Caddie was the 1979 model, I had a 2 door coupe deVille, 425 cast iron big block 4bbl car, Turbo 400... Last of the big blocks for Caddy... If I had one today I would probably do a overdrive trans conversion and update some engine items for more HP, but not get ridiculous... I owned mine for about 8 years in my late 20's early 30's and did like it even though it didn't fit my age group! lol... It didn't break down or be an econobox POS like so many others had then as new cars....

Why does everyone think they have the lowest mile best Brougham in the country? Yes the black on black is a very rare color combination but this car doesn't even have the upscale D'elegance package, real wire wheel spokes or the ultra rare power moonroof option. It even has the base motor instead of the optional 5.7. Much better units exist.

By 1990, Ford had modernized and improved the Town Car, which, in 1992, left the Cadillac far behind. However, this is still a great automobile. Young people have no idea how comfortable a car can be unless they are lucky to come across one of these. It's too bad no one wants to make a car like that anymore.

In no way did the Town Car even compare to one of these, let alone eclipse it. The 5.0 Ford was as under powered as the 5.0 Chevy in the Caddy. The 4.6 that replaced the 5.0 in the TC was noisy and gutless compared to the optional 5.7 in the Caddy. Inside, every aspect of the Town Car reeked of cheap compared to the Cadillac. I have a 92 in the shop. I've sold at least 5 of the Town Cars of the same era thru the dealership this year alone, including a PGA Tour car. Ford did what they could but even by the time the TC wound up in '08 or so the only way it surpassed one of these was with the rack & pinion the Fords eventually gained.

The only thing better than the car shown? The d’elegance version with the pillow-top seats and equipped with the 5.7 liter L05 engine! This is a true Cadillac, though, not like the tiny, cookie-cutter, hard-riding, “sporty”, euro-clone classless crap they put out today. The Escalade is unfortunately the closest thing, but an SUV still can’t quite compete with the ride and elegance of these sedans. It’s too bad, too, as a new version of these land yachts could have power and fuel economy only dreamed of decades ago.

The '92-93s were the last of the generation first designed for 1980. By that time GM had refined and improved the car to the point it was the absolute best it could be. GM had long moved on from the horrid V8-6-4 and HT4100 engines they came with through '85 and equipped these with bulletproof 307s and 350s. Chassis and suspension upgrades over the years made the '88-92 models the absolute smoothest of all of them. I would never hesitate to buy one of these if I had the chance. If you just do basic maintenance and take care of it it really is a car that can rack up 200,000 miles. At 36,000 this one isn't even broken in yet!

@@WillBravoNotEvil It would have been when they stopped production of the RWD B-bodies. After that, the Cadillac was really on its own since there wasn't anything else to compare it to.
