1992 South Shore Drill Team Winter Guard

This show inspired who I am today. This my senior year of high school and 2 year of guard. I was the only black kid in my guard and what felt like the only black kid in the circuit. I saw this show at WGI and was crying by the end of the show. I knew I wanted to one day teach a group my black inner city kids colorguard. Which I eventually did, but they never understood or took advantage of the greatness they were.

I was there LIVE and in person in 1992. I had just auditioned and made the Bluecoats and was there to support several of our Guard Members at their performances. Being I lived in Dayton all my life, it was the first time to attent WGI Dayton. This SHOW is THE SHOW I judge all other Winter guards by. Just like before Bluecoats, I compare the 1988 Madison Scouts to all other corps until 2014 TILT/2016 Down Side Up and of course 2019 The Bluecoats (Beatles). Thank you for posting this. I loaned my VHS of 1992 WGI Finals and never got it back. This was the first time seeing it in over 25 Years. So many good memories with this show!
