Clearly Dick Johnson loved racing at Lakeside due to the fact it was his home circuit. The fans would've loved him. Nothing better than racing at your home race venue.

The year HOLDEN had ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING BANNED they couldn't compete against...How did that work out for them???

I mean the GTR isn't doing too well now either. Also how is this even related to the demise of Holden which is due to legislation. They didn't die because of the GTR.

@@Fantomx7g6I'm talking about how the GTR is not selling in Australia anymore due to safety regulations and even when it was selling it was a measly amount, losing sales to Mustangs and 911s. Holden sold more Commodores in Australia than Nissan did GTRs worldwide. The Nissan GTR will die in 2025 and will only be sold in the US and Japan.

@johncarl5505 Holden really killed themselves with the Commodore...a large RWD Sedan platform....A Platform consumers no longer wanted...same deal with the Falcon...no one wanted them anymore but F and H had this bizarre race to the bottom that consumers didn't care about and were to busy buying Dual Cab's, smaller cars and SUV's...Holden blew $1 BILLION on a platform that was dying a fast death when they should have spent the R&D on something that would sell...there is no way GM would have pulled the plug if Holden was doing well and selling Car's...imo it was Holden's own arrogant fault for going broke

Dick Johnson winning a race at his home circuit. No doubt he would've enjoyed it. He obviously loved racing there. The fans would've loved him racing there too. They well and truly enjoyed him winning that particular race in 1993. Peter Brock did well in that race too finishing third behind Alan Jones's Peter Jackson sponsored Falcon. The other shell and Peter Jackson sponsored Falcons weren't too far behind either, finishing fourth and fifth respectively. Winfield commodores had a c#$t of a race. Same with the telecom mobilenet commodores. They had a real shocker of a race there. Good to hear too that lakeside raceway has been revived.

It was probably a good thing that the racing of the V8s and the fart boxes was eventually separated.

Obviously never owned or driven a v8 aussie car, they were great days when the local manufacturers were on their game. But failure to change to what people had to drive killed them, true not relevent to today but for us car nuts wonderful times.

@@phillipm1039 You would be wrong in your assumption...I had a VR hsv Senator as a Company car for 2 years wich was the most over rated car I've ever driven...terrible...not long after it was gotten rid of I personally bought a R32 GTR V-spec wich I still own today.

I'm a ford man so would agree with your opinion of the vn to vs Commodore or in this case the Senator, a bit surprised on your assessment of the Senator thought they would have been better then the standard car , I drove a vs Commodore and felt like the rear end was trying to swap ends. Turns out the rear is wider then the front ,very scary under brakes. The Nissin however now thats a good choice.
